The World Rings

World Rings appear in Sonic and the Secret Rings but are believed to be a myth by many. There are seven in total, sharing similar traits with the Chaos Emeralds, mainly the ability to use their power to perform a super-transformation, shown by Erazor Djinn and Sonic the Hedgehog. It is stated that the collector of the rings must sacrifice their life for control of their power. In Super Sentai Climax Gekiranger, this World Rings are created by Alma Wade (originally) then Samuel (currently) since in Climax Boukenger with the power of miracles working on Crystal Stars and Chaos Emeralds. These World Rings are creatures symbolize.

Colors[]

The Seven World Rings come in the same colors as the Chaos Emeralds. Each one represents a human emotion. In Super Sentai Climax Gekiranger, the World Rings is actually Greater Power of Rings.

  • Blue = Prayers (Hope)/Fish
  • Purple = Sadness/Dinosaur
  • Red = Rage/Bird
  • Green = Hatred/Insect
  • Yellow = Joy/Animal
  • Cyan = Pleasure/Reptile
  • White = Wishes (Desire)/Cryptid

Powers[]

Much like the Chaos Emeralds, the World Rings possesses great amounts of power and can cause a super transformation. Unlike the Chaos Emeralds, however, the World Rings can initiate a transformation even when not all the rings are used, but with less benefits. As a example, while Erazor Djinn uses all seven rings to transform, Sonic required only the red, purple, and green to become Darkspine Sonic. This form is similar to Super Sonic in power, except Darkspine Sonic is not invincible, and his power isn't reliant on Ring energy. The nature of these transformations, however, seems to have a dark influence on the person using them, making it seem like a negative transformation. For example Darkspine Sonic seems more violent, his voice gets deeper and he fights with much more ferocity, and at the same time, Erazor Djinn went insane, which is possibly due to it being a negative energy transformation. This makes it seem like the seven World Rings powers are based on negative forces.

It seems that the rings have some powers of their own; For example, the water blue ring could create storms and rain and the white ring could open the doors to the Erazor Djinn's palace. According to the Erazor Djinn, the seven rings together, ties the stories of the Arabian Nights together, which possibly means keeping the world of the Arabian Nights stable.

When all the World Rings are collected, it is conceivable that they could produce results as catastrophic as the Chaos Emeralds can. Sonic fears their energy could open the gates of Hell. For someone to unlock the power and the control of the World Rings, the life of the collector of the rings must be sacrificed as a part of a ritual. If another life is sacrificed instead, the control of the rings will be incomplete, and the result would be catastrophic, such as the Erazor Djinn's transformation into the monsterous and incomplete Layla wa-Layla Alf Layla wa-Layla.

Each World Ring has a certain, but intense emotion sealed up inside of them (Prayers/hope, sadness, rage, hatred, joy, pleasue, wishes/desires), which each embodies one the emotions that makes up the stories of the Arabian Nights. Just by touching the rings causes a powerfull jolt that makes someone feel, as Sonic describes it, "a whirlpool of emotions". Those who inhabit the world of the Arabian Nights are unable to touch the rings physically, as they would simply go right through them. Only people who are not natives to the world of the Arabian Nights are able to touch them.

The World Rings don't appear to be as strong in terms of power as the Chaos Emeralds. However, because of the emotions they contain in such strong quantities, if all seven World Rings were absorbed by someone other than Erazor, it can be assumed that they would either die because of all the emotion and power raging inside them, or go insane. The latter seems more likely, reinforced by both Sonic and Erazor's transformations; both became more violent and aggressive than before, and Sonic had only absorbed three.

In Super Sentai Climax Gekiranger, the World Rings has a three creatures type.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible that, just like the Chaos Emeralds, the rings respond to emotion. As seen when the rings of anger, hatred, and sadness burst out of Layla wa-Layla Alf Layla wa-Layla and were absorbed into Sonic since that's what he was feeling when Erazor killed Shahra.
  • In Sonic and the Black Knight, there are unlockable stages called Legacy stages. If the stage is finished, there is a possible chance to buy one of the world rings with enough ID points. If all seven world rings are collected, Crush 40's version of "Seven Rings in Hand" will be available in Gallery Mode to listen to. Also in that game, the Blue Ring contains Hope.
  • Because of the areas Sonic and Shahra found the rings in, it is possible that they represent each elemental location: Ring of the Desert (yellow), Ring of the Jungle (green), Ring of the Sky (blue), Ring of the Sea (cyan), Ring of the Volcano (red), Ring of the Light (white), Ring of the Darkness (purple).
  • It is possible that the World Rings are the Arabian equivalent and/or linked to the Chaos Emeralds. Fortunately, in Super Sentai Climax series, this World Rings are counterpart of D-Medals and Crystal Stars.
