So by now, I'm hoping at least some members of the wiki have seen Skull's notice of resignation. And to be quite honest, for a long-time lurker, longer-time member, and former admin, this is pretty much the last straw.

You see, I was here when the wiki was tight-knit and really participated. RPs were everywhere, often with people participating in more than one. The community had practically built a small world, with deities, elements, organizations, countries, etc. We helped each other, and we participated in each other's creations. And community projects like the SFW Awards and Character Critiques were quite popular. Hell, "Ask [Character]" used to be a frequent thing! Now? Now that really isn't the case.

I'm not going to bother going on a rant about the subject because Skull already did that (get off your arses and read that if you haven't) and covered just about all the points I would. Instead, this blog is about a possible solution to the issue at hand. That solution?

I think the wiki chat box should be disabled. Not permanently (at this point in time); only temporarily. The reason I feel this is a potential solution is because the wiki chat is intrinsically separated from the rest of the wiki and community. With the wiki chat active few people or potential new members have any real reason to actually contribute or get involved in what's going on on the actual wiki itself! I feel that if we take that "distraction" away, people will have more reason to be involved with the rest of the wiki. At the very least, I want to test it to see if it really does improve the wiki's sense of community.
