With the new year approaching fast, I'd like to discuss some ideas that should help make this place better. Please remember that this is a discussion, not a vote, nor a debate. Please stay civil in the comments.
First and foremost, I want to get the hard stuff out of the way. With Kagimizu gone, a lot of the things that he took care of are up in the air.
First is the Featured User spotlight. This feature has been on the front page of the wiki for a very long time, and I don't intend to let it die with his leaving. Xi had wanted to take over, so I think we should let him manage it. At least until Kagimizu gets back from his break.
For some reason, a lot of users felt that Kagi was the one to go to if they had a problem on the chat, but he very rarely visits chat. He doesn't really know any of the chat users, and isn't exactly the best choice for that. It made it difficult for him to make any decisions about it. Because I am the most active admin on the chat, I'd like to be the one to handle any of the chat-related issues that can't be solved by the chat mods. Now this doesn't mean that the users can't go to other people, just that I would kind of be the designated person for this. I'm aware of all the drama that comes with that, but I'll take care of it.
I want to designate specific admins for specific things. Right now, the majority of admins are here to do nothing but delete pages. We're supposed to be here for more than that, and I would like to give everyone a job in order to help increase wiki activity.
The chat still needs more moderators, and I will be running an election again in the new year now that the rule requiring separate admin/user voting has been removed.
After the new year, the New Standards will start to be enforced. This means that people will need to check their articles! The standards are easy to follow and it should be simple to make the articles meet them.
Finally, I want to remind everyone that ALL of the admins are here to help you. You can come to any of us for help, and we would be glad to help you.
