NOW PLAYING: ODD FUTURE (Fan-Edited) - UVERworld

Helloooo, everybodeeeh! Bet some of you weren't expecting me to join the party? Well, I am! Just one thing though... much like Shulk over here, since the category in question is generally pretty lengthy to go through thus resulting in a fair lack of votes, not to mention how absolutely merciless it is this time around thanks to the large amount of entries, I will only be giving out votes for Best Fan Project, for the time being. Now, I already asked permission from Piano about this, so I suggest you don't try to shut me down (you know who you are).

Now, as for how I'll give out votes, it'll be the same as last time I voted. green is a positive vote, yellow is a neutral vote, red is a negative vote, and grey is a forced neutral vote, as I have significant involvement with the page in question.

...speaking of which, is that Forced Neutral rule still in effect? Well, either way, let's get this show on the road!

Best Fan Project[]

  1. A Different Kind of Normal - I actually read through this a fair while before the awards, and I can safely say that I liked it! There were some technical issues with the writing, but I think they're mostly negligible. I love most of the Powers Club gang (shout out to Johnathon!), and Kable is a pretty good villain (now you know what vote I'll give him if ever I decide to tackle the rest of the categories). Also, Sasha is a badass. I will fight you for this.
  2. Unity/Chapter 1: Home Bitter Home - Well, I'll be damned, Max. This was actually really well-written - not to mention, actually pretty long possibly longer than a single chapter of RAtE. I probs won't be reading the other chapters anytime soon, but this one definitely deserves an upvote. Also, I'll have to agree with Kennedy here - Mac and Scarlet were idiots back there.
  3. Apocalypses Are Boring - I like this one. I mean, it's not everyday you see someone not take the fact that the apocalypse is happening as seriously as the rest of his friends, and it's also well-written overall. The decision to add a list of what references were there and were they came from was also a nice touch. Also, blue bubblegum the true MVP, bois!
  4. After You'd Remember - ...well, that got dark quick. That aside, I liked this one too. Short, yes, but short doesn't always equate to bad unfortunately Sonic Forces isn't a good example of this. At the very least, I am kinda interested to see where this whole thing will go from here.
  5. Cosmic Reboot - This one... I don't like nearly as much. Yeah, sure, having Sonic being the literal Iblis Trigger is a pretty sweet twist. However, it's simply not nearly as well-written as the above entries, especially since the pacing is kind of whack... as in, almost Sonic Forces-levels of whack. There's also the matter of Infinite being there alongside Iblis raising several questions... Thankfully, it's not bad enough to warrant a negative vote.
  6. Rage Against the Empire - Just as the awards start, I've already thought about changes to already-uploaded chapters that would have been better, in my opinion. Oh well. I still need that feedback anyway.
  7. Dimitri Chronicles: Flames of Courage - From what I've seen, it is well-written and a lot of effort has been put into it. However, I feel that the style of the writing itself makes it seem like that the whole series is supposed to be an animated series of sorts (or maybe a Telltale game?). Yeah, sure, I kinda do that too with my fan game ideas, but this specific project on the other hand is supposed to be a full-on fanfiction, judging from the main page. I was initially going to still give it an upvote despite that issue, but after further consideration, I've decided to give it a neutral since the writing style really does give it enough of an identity crisis for me to be unsure of it all. After even further consideration, and a clarification from Chames, I've decided grant Flames of Courage the upvote since it's still quite a fun read in spite of my nitpicks. Also, bonus points for Tobias, Ember, and Zahra, whom I all had favorable opinions of in previous seasons.
  8. The Chronicles of Sonic the Hedgehog: I Am the Future - As the only fan game on this list, I'll have to say that this is quite impressive. A lot of effort certainly went into this, but I do find the control scheme for the Freedom Fighters to be a little strange in some aspects. Personally, I think the control scheme for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron could make a good reference. Either way, this one gets the upvote!
  9. Protocol Cy-Fox v1.0 - Not gonna lie, I really admire the amount of effort put into this. At the very least, it is very well-written with respectable characterization (then again, that's not exactly hard to do with Sonic characters nowadays), and bringing in a fair deal of the characters mostly seen in the Archie comics was nice to see, especially since Archie isn't making the Sonic comics anymore. If I had just one complaint though, it would be that making an overview page like the ones from Rage Against the Empire and Flames of Courage, among plenty of others, as well as separating the chapters into their own sub-pages would definitely have been nice, especially for the sake of organization. Having everything in one page just doesn't sit well with me for some reason. :/
