Ok, cool. *shudders* I'm scared though. If someone (maybe me?) were to become an admin, it'd be a lot of responsibility. I'd have to have another admin train me, like a training session with a manager and a new employee.
We don't need more admins. Admins are elected based on workload, not numbers. If the wiki can be easily managed by three people, we don't need more, it just increases the avenues for corruption because the rule abiding citizens are the ones who make the rules.
As far as I can see, nothing of import that has needed intense administration... has happened. Even when we did have more admins, many of them were only admins for the sake of it, and... yeah, you can sort of get the picture. I'd think many on here are actually skeptical nowadays when someone wants to be a new admin!
oh yeah I'm not really back from the dead I'm a spooptober spoop
Hm. Akri kind of has a point. I mean, nothing too crazy (especially God Sonic fiasco-levels of crazy) has happened, as far as I know.
Although (now, I haven't been around in the wiki for a while so this might've been settled already and it may be a bit off-topic), have any of those three noticed the pics that AtlantisUchiha's been uploading a bit recently? As mentioned by Fusion in the comments section in one of those articles, they're just official pics from the Fate/stay night series so... yeah, just bringing everyone's attention to that cuz it's been bothering me quite a bit for some time now. :/
Well, I bet they have, but I've noticed it a lot too. i've never played the game but there's just something in me that tells me he did not draw anything from any of his pages, or if he has drawn anything it's minor at best.
I do not disagree with the aforementioned points. Even one administrator would suffice to manage the wikia.
The reason why I have brought this up, is because there is an increasingly high number of articles being made that either do not meet standards or are irrelevant to the wikia.
But aside from the one user who was uploading pornographic material and a few others harassing another user, nothing else recent has necessitated an administrator. Its just that in the past we used to have almost 9-10 administrators.
It seems to me that what you're asking for is not more administrators, but more people patrolling for standards or relevancy. Which; in all honesty, I'm pretty sure any user can do. If the page doesn't meet standards, there's a template to throw on there to mark the page as not meeting standards. If it's removed, then you alert an admin (including your friendly neighborhood bureaucrat, since I'm normally around somewhere) that somebody has removed a standards tag so that the page is deleted and the user warned.
If that's the primary problem; then it's something we can work around.
I agree with Flash here, we don't need to add 9-10 more admins to accomplish a task that you can alleviate by doing it yourself or asking an admin if you don't have high enough permissions. Admins shouldn't be the puppet masters pulling on the strings, ask any of the paid staff of Fandom who keep Wikia running and they will tell you otherwise.
We are volunteers, it is hard to find volunteers at a moments notice, and on top of that, 9-10 more admins constitutes the remaining amount of users who are susceptably and visually active, it is a standard that we quantably can't keep up anymore without promoting users who don't pass our requirements for staff positions.
I will look at setting something up that merges the wiki activity with the Discord, hopefully that can help with alleviating issues with negligence.
I have been on a few wikia pages where the admins can be incredibly bossy about what to post or not to write on a comment that was made beforea certain date and other petty stuff. I even lost my username so I tried commentating under another name so I could find the details and a moderator banned me for being a 'troll' just because I wrote on my own page. I aways see that happen on pages which a ton of admins and it makes it unbearable for people. I just don't want to see this page do the same thing.
I agree with Flash and Akrivus. I don't think that Admins should dictate every single post or comment a user makes but they should be active. I don't mean that they should not patrol bad threads or anything but users should be able to contribute without being before ipbanned or watched. We should be happy that we do not have admins like that.
Also, it should be a good to let all users contribute to threads like that since this is a page that we all use and it has a bearing on all of us.
You have to meet requirements for any position on the wiki, whether moderator or admin. Personally, I think the staffing on the wiki is okay as it is for now, and if we do have problems we can't fix ourselves, then we can go to an admin.
