This has been discussed before, and I would like to actually take some action on this. I don't remember what anyone said should be in them, so let's brainstorm and come up with some simple rules for the chat.

I have added a page for us to put these ideas all in one place. If you could flesh them out a bit, I can rewrite them in a more binding tone later to have them match other policies. For now we can treat it as a group project, so everyone can edit this page:

    • Personally, I'd like to reinstate Cam's "three strikes" method of dealing punishment on chat.

    • Don't make people angry, which is no fighting I guess

    • i agree with xi, it was very effective in the past when sol was on, even though it wasn't made an official method

    • when I first went on chat, people sweared me out and kicked me out.:| what rule could you make for that?

There is already a rule for swearing. I assume that crosses into chat rules as well.

    • 1. Do not carry over an argument from a non-affiliated wiki into the chat mainspace.

      2. Do not instigate a fight on purpose. Get a mod or admin to stop the fighting instead.

That's what I have came up with for now.

    • Sol kinda already asked me to "carry on" his strikes rule a while back, though my break (due to RL reasons) left me unable to. I still have the full list of strikes if anyone needs/ wants them. If it is going to be carried on, it will have to be more organized than when it was first created. (>w>)

A rule that I'd like to have, is if a RP/ TP has going on in the public chat space between two people, it goes over to their private chat. This would be to save cluttering the public space of the chat, as well as keep it mainly for conversation purposes.

    • This topic isn't dead, and I'd like to get the discussion going again. This is something I really want to push.

    • With the Multi-user PM in place, I think that roleplays/talkplays should no longer be allowed on main chat unless all present users are participating in some way. This can of course be reworded to better accomodate... whatever, but I think the general idea should remain.

    • The only issue with that is that you cannot add new users to a multi-pm after it is created.

Good point. Still though, I think we should at least find some sort of compromise.

    • Maybe there should be a rule where people don't act too weird. It kind of annoys people or confuses them. This,I think applies to me.

Uh...no. That would not work. First of all, whether someone is acting weird or not is truly an opinion. Second, there is nothing wrong with people acting weird on chat in the first place. It makes the chat less boring.

Late reply ftw. Anyway, if we do decide to use the strikes rule, it should be "carried on" by all chat-moderators. Also, any strikes should NOT be carried over, as it has been a while since the strikes were previously used.

    • Okay, I think after about a month of silence, it's now safe to assume that nobody has anymore suggestions. I think we should now look at the suggestions already added and either improve on them or remove them.

    • I'll go through and write up a draft when I get some free time today.
