The Thundering Armada is a formidable villain group that rules the Moonlight Plains Zone of Yurashia. Their primary goal is to find a way to use the Lunar Obelisk for their own purposes.
History[]
The Iron Fist of the Moonlight Plains[]
From the very beginning, the Thundering Armada had ruled over the Moonlight Plains as a sort of dictator group, taxing the settlers who lived there for various goods. In return, the Thundering Armada kept the people safe from bandits, raiders and the like. The only one who refused to live under the thumb of the Armada was a Mobian Komainu named Daichi, responsible for maintaining a mysterious obelisk that was located in the middle of the Celestic Lake.
Naturally, this strange structure got the interest of the Armada, and time and time again, they marched to the lake, trying to discover the obelisk's secrets. Time and time again, they were spurned, with claims that some unknown, divine force was assisting Daichi in protecting the obelisk.
Trek to Cloudtop Village[]
Eventually, however, the Armada turned their attention to the Cloudtop Mountains, which sat directly next to the Moonlight Plains Zone. Hachiro Shimasu, the current head of the Armada, had heard rumors that rare and powerful artifacts were kept within the mountain, as well as its village. Wanting to see these rumors for himself (and take the possible spoils, as well), Hachiro took his two trusted confidants, Arata and Asuka Mori, as well as a bunch of footsoldiers, to Cloudtop Village.
Around this time, the village was dealing with on-and-off attacks from the Eggman Empire.

The Thundering Armada functions as a sort of dictatorship, taxing the settlements of the Moonlight Plains Zone, and offering protection from raiders and bandits in return. However, they are clearly not above taking things from places beyond the Plains, as shown by their willingness to raid Cloudtop Village, yet this was primarily due to rumors that rare and valuable artifacts could be found there.
The Thundering Armada believes that the Yurashia Egg Army is a threat to their power, and will willingly fight if they cross paths with them.
