Tenebrite is a type of crystal. They are most commonly found around the Fearful Caverns of Eurish, as well as in cave systems of both Eurish and Northamer.
It is rumored that there are massive amounts of Tenebrite hidden within the Point of No Return, which is the name given to the deeper parts of the Fearful Caverns. However, due to how dangerous the area is, it is entirely off-limits, and no one has been able to verify these claims.
Raw tenebrite occurs as irregularly-shaped and sharp crystals, typically in clusters of three. Each crystal is mostly dark indigo in color, with a naturally resinous lustre. Tenebrite crystals seem to absorb light, making them appear darker than normal.
Tenebrite's main use is as jewelry. Tenebrite gemstones come in a wide variety of shapes, and generally tend to be faceted, although cabochon gemstones (ones that have been shaped and polished) are common as well.
Tenebrite gemstones typically carry over the resinous lustre of their raw, uncut forms, but can also occur in a greasy lustre. Tenebrite gemstones are primarily dark indigo in color, with variations in color shade, from a lighter purple to a nearly pitch black color, and more blueish or grayish variations are not unheard of.
Blue-ish variants are typically referred to as "midnight Tenebrite", while grayish variants are typically referred to as "smoky Tenebrite" or "shadowed Tenebrite".
Tenebrite is known as one of Mobius' many "magic minerals", which basically describe any ore, mineral, or gemstone that has supernatural properties. Tenebrite bears an alignment with the Element of Darkness and both raw tenbrite and tenebrite gemstones have their uses.
Due to tenebrite's natural sub-alignment of Darkness, refining them into gemstones also allows them to generate their power more easily and make the Elemental essence in them more purified; tenebrite gemstones have been known to be fused to weapons in order to infuse them with a moderate amount of Dark-Element energy.
Being classed as a "magic mineral", tenebrite has supernatural properties; it carries a natural sub-alignment to the Element of Darkness, which becomes "purified" and concentrated when it is refined into a gemstone.
Tenebrite, in both its raw form and its gem form, absorbs light, with the absorption being stronger in the gemstones. The amount of light absorbed is dependent on the size of the gemstone itself, with larger gemstones absorbing more light.
