Looks like we don't get seem to get along very well...

Ah...How do I talk myself out of this one? Um...Let's say Shingo and Smash accidently bumped into each other on the street. Shingo, trying to tell the world he's famous, promptly tells Smash that he's a famous fighter, how he participated in several KOFs, including 97, 98, 2000 and 2002. Shingo then says he's heard of a Sonic vs. KOF tournament being held, and that he's going there. "Why don't you come along too?" he asks. "OK!" Smash exclaims, pretending to be thrilled, because "When these kind of people say 'Why don't you come too?' what they really mean is 'You've got no other choice,' he mutters to himself, heading home.

You're missing the point, dude. Let me be direct and blunt; You're using my main character without my permission. While I'm amused that you would choose Smash for your KOF fangame, as I myself happen to be a fan of the series, (and Shingo is actually one of my favorite characters,) The fact that instead of asking to use him, you basically just came up to me and said "Hey I'm using your character. How do you feel about that?". That rubs me the wrong way, really. Now allow me to quote some pieces of Smash's actual response, because you putting words in his mouth (saying Okay to Shingo's invitation for example) doesn't count.

"I've entered a thing like this before: Sonic Fanon Battlers, I think the name was. It never got much farther than a list of characters. If you can convince me that this won't be the same thing, IF this is even going to be made in the first place, then I'm not joining."

Finding an excuse to drop my opinion.

Alright. Yeah. I think I should slip myself into this conversation. I'm 3krok [formerly Sonicstar3000] and I created Sonic Fanon Battlers, a fanon game which Smash had previously mentioned. A stupid little project I once made that was supposed to be with just friends but eventually got FUBAR, which shrunk once again and now ceases to exist. It's definitely safe to say, that Sonic Fanon Battlers is something I highly regret on my life in Wikia.

I stumbled upon this page because I happen to be a very, very big fan of KOF. (It's 20th anniversary was three days ago!) As I still have SFB stuff plainly for reference for conversations such as these. I'm going to have to go and agree with Smash that these games never get past their list of characters, and what a big list SFB had, 198 characters! That's way too ambitious.

Now, looking at your characters list, there are sixty three characters on Sonic side alone, which to create an equal roster, we'd have 126 characters. That's also pretty ambitious. Even for something small if you're just using an engine like MUGEN or something. There's also little to no development team from what I can see, however you can go ahead and prove me wrong about that if you so choose to. 

Smash has made a good choice taking his character out of the roster, that would take a lot of work off of your back if you were to go ahead and make this. Even then, this is still highly ambitious and most fangames that get too ambitious unfortunately never get anything done. Now, if you're going to actually go through with this anyway, I'm sure there'll be some people who are glad to help you, but even besides that, you'd have to devote a lot of your time to even just one single character, one single stage, anything, it can sap up a lot of your time.

Take this from someone with experience in this situation, either face it head on, or don't do it at all. I don't want you to do something you'd regret, I don't want someone to end up being like I was two years ago, it's not really the best phase to find yourself in. Once again I say take it from someone who's done something like this before, I'd step back from trying to make this a big fanon roster even with the kings and queens of fighters joining the fray. You may hurt youself if you try to go through with a huge game like this.
