~ 'Spring-Heeled Jack'

Spring-Heeled Jack (バネ足ジャック Baneashijakku?, born 29 April), otherwise known as Evil or Anti Spectrum (イービル/アンチスペクトラム Ībiru/ anchisupekutoramu?), is one of ChaosControl VA's Sonic OCs. In an alternate timeline branching off from Spectrum The Hedgehog's alternate universe,[9][13] Jack was also the Rookie, also formerly known as that timeline's Spectrum.

After being left behind in Metropolis during Operation Big Wave[14] and then almost immediately being captured by Eggman and tortured for some time afterward, his trauma turned to insanity. After escaping Eggman, he would create an alter ego and utterly destroy the Eggman Empire, the Resistance, and the rest of the world[13] with fear and death (causing its apocalypse, with him as its tyrannical ruler). Years later, he would be brought into Spectrum's main timeline,[15] where he would fight against Spectrum himself for a time, but would then go off on his own into the multiverse[9] and occasionally help either side of any future conflict.

Appearance[]

Spring-Heeled Jack is a slim crimson-furred (formerly red) anthropomorphic hedgehog with red (formerly brown) eyes, and peach skin that covers his muzzle and the insides of his ears. He has a long black nose, triangular ears on top of his head, six quills on the back of his head, two spines protruding from his back behind his shoulders, and a short pointy tail.

For attire, Spring-Heeled Jack wears a steel mask adorned with horns, athermal black glass lens with screens[12] and digital HUDs built into them, and mounted flamethrowers. On his body, he wears a black kevlar skin tight suit, with steel chest plates, shoulder, and knee plates placed over top with gray belt straps. On his feet, he wears steel plated spring-loaded boots (made for leaping over great distances), and steel plated gauntlets with retractable steel plated claws on his hands. Small crimson gas tubes for the flamethrowers on his mask are strapped to his back, with a purple tattered kevlar cape hiding them from view, with gold plated pins bearing a symbol of his mask's horns strapping it to his shoulders.

Personality[]

Jack is essentially just the Rookie, but taken to an all new extreme. Having experienced trauma at the hand of Infinite during the early days of the Resistance, Jack had slight PTSD symptoms. This was only amplified into insanity after losing to Infinite during Operation Big Wave and immediately getting captured by Eggman afterwards and tortured. During his time with Eggman, he gained a dismal and hateful view towards life and people, mainly believing that friendship is a lie and that there is no one alive who truly and really cares for another person; all of which would push him into a survivalist drive. This mindset also led to him developing a cruel and sadistic drive as well, which allowed him to take pleasure in the pain of others and to inflict that pain to the fullest and most violent extent he could...

After confronting his alternate timeline[15] counterpart, Spectrum, and leaving his home universe to travel the multiverse,[9] he would become more reserved and resigned with his new personality, not as violent and sadistic as before, but still with his dismal view of reality. No one he encounters really trusts him, regardless of his reservedness, so he still feels like he's at liberty to keep being cruel and sadistic to anyone he hunts down, as well as to keep his view of how life is.

Weapons and Gadgets[]

After escaping Eggman, and while preparing to take his vengeance on the world[13] through fear and death, Jack crafted a suit of armor that could protect him from being hurt by sharp weapons, firearms, and actual fire. Not only that, but he also equipped the suit with special gadgets, such as claws, flamethrowers, and special helmet lenses.

Spectrum The Hedgehog[]

Spectrum The Hedgehog[15] is Jack's alternate timeline counterpart. When Spectrum accidently came upon his timeline,[13] Jack was eager to make him suffer the way he did, hoping to turn him into some monster to himself and prove that how his path is a superior way through life. When this failed, and when Jack would later travel across the multiverse[9] and became a neutral force, he would always talk down to Spectrum and act like the superior version of the two, would he would be more than happy to prove with a fight.

Sonic The Hedgehog[]

Sonic the Hedgehog was the Jack's partner (in Sonic Forces). They met when Knuckles told him to rescue Sonic on the Death Egg. When Infinite later tried to intimidate Spectrum in Metropolis, he followed Sonic's advice that it was his great moment to shine. This inspired Spectrum to finally take a stance against Infinite instead of being afraid. However, Infinite easily overpowered him. As he was captured and being tortured by Eggman as Sonic and the Resistance were forced to leave him behind, he felt as though Sonic's lessons and his friendship with him all meant nothing, and so he grew to resent Sonic (along with everyone else); a grudge that he would later take out on Sonic (by killing him)[1] as he went on his worldwide takeover spree. Now as he travels across the multiverse and is more of a neutral force, he's still cold towards other versions of the blue hedgehog, but is only violent against him when he can benefit from it.

Infinite[]

Spectrum and Infinite have a personal connection, since Infinite spared him simply to satiate his sadistic nature by watching them flee in terror, ultimately scarring Spectrum deeply. They later met again in Metropolis during Operation Big Wave, with Infinite trying to intimidate Spectrum again; fortunately, because of words of encouragement from Sonic, he finally chose to fight Infinite instead of giving in to his fear and trauma. However, Infinite would still beat him, ultimately solidifying his trauma forever. Thankfully (for Jack, anyway...), Infinite would pay for his abuse (violently)...

Vi[]

Vi was Jack's main partner, having met during his mission to clear the way for Resistance rescue teams in Sunset City.[18] Without a family of his own, Vi clinged to Jack, who adopted him into his care shortly after.[19] However, Vi wouldn't be able to spend more time with his new companion, as Jack would be captured by Eggman during Operation Big Wave after a fight with Infinite. Vi would manage to escape and get back to the Resistance, but was ultimately heartbroken by losing his friend; a feeling that would be misplaced when Jack came back and ultimately killed him (for feeling as though he betrayed him by leaving him behind), along with everyone else who stood in his way (for the same reasoning). When traveling across the multiverse[9] and coming into the main timeline,[20] he would run into Vi's main counterpart,[15] who would be unnerved by his very presence at the very least (much like everyone else), a feeling which would only be justified and amplified when he learned that Jack killed his counterpart.[1]
