As expected of the Blue Blur himself, Sonic is one of the fastest characters in the roster. As such, he relies on his incredible speed and mobility both in the air and in the ground to wear his opponents down, with several moves that keep him on the move and a Style Action being an effective way to close distance in a flash while dealing damage at the same time should it land.

However, despite his nigh-unmatched mobility and neutral game, Sonic is not all that tough and can be taken down quite easily if he gets careless. Not to mention, most of his most effective tools are used at close range, as his projectiles don't deal a whole lot of damage. In fact, Sonic's damage output isn't the greatest in the roster either, meaning he'll have to stay on the opponent's face as much as he can without taking too much punishment himself in order to come out on top.

Moveset

Cobalt Chaser - Exchange button

  • Sonic's Style Action, where he curls into a ball before rapidly zeroing himself in on the opponent with a swift Homing Attack.

Sonic Storm - Arcade Modifier Air Arcade-Stick-Down + Attack light

  • A Command Normal where, by spinning at rapid speeds, Sonic launches a wave of Chaos Energy at a downward angle.

Sonic Strike - Arcade Modifier Air Arcade-Stick-Down + Attack medium

  • A Command Normal where Sonic swiftly curls into a ball as he dives straight to the ground foot-first before instantly bursting forward along the ground with a Spin Dash.

Spin Slash - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS Right + Attack h

  • A Command Normal where Sonic charges forward while curled into a ball, slashing right through the opponent with a multi-hitting Spin Attack.

Wall Jump - [near a wall] Arcade Modifier Air FrtAS Right

  • When near a wall, Sonic can leap off of it.

Sonic Wave - AS QCF + Attack light / Attack medium

  • Attack light Version - By rapidly spinning in place, Sonic fires off a quick wave of Chaos Energy that covers a fair distance and deals a few hits of light damage.
  • Attack medium Version - By spinning at high speeds in one place, Sonic launches forth a slightly slower wave of Chaos Energy that covers greater distance and deals multiple hits at a rapid pace.

Sonic Wind - AS QCF + Attack h

  • An EX Move where Sonic channels Chaos Energy into his hand before tossing forth a small whirlwind that ensnares the opponent while dealing damage..

Sonic Spiral - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS S + Attack button

  • Attack light Version - Sonic leaps a short height into the air with a swift, somersault kick.
  • Attack medium Version - Sonic lifts himself and the opponent into the air with a somersault kick.
  • Attack h Version - Sonic performs two somersault kicks in a row as he lifts himself into the air.

Windmill - AS QCB + Attack button

  • Attack light Version - Sonic performs a rotating kick attack that flies straight forward.
  • Attack medium Version - Sonic performs a rotating kick attack angled upwards.
  • Attack h Version - Sonic begins with a rising knee strike that launches the opponent before performing a series of rotating kicks.

Blue Streak - Arcade Modifier Air AS QCB + Attack button

  • Attack light Version - Sonic performs a forward aerial somersault.
  • Attack medium Version - Sonic performs a backwards aerial somersault.
  • Attack h Version - Sonic performs an aerial somersault that covers smaller distance by default, but can be manually directed in exchange.

  • Sonic performs a swift somersault kick that knocks the opponent slightly further up in the air.

High Flying Groove - Arcade Modifier Air AS QCF + Attack button

  • Attack light Version - Sonic dives forward at a downward angled while curled into a ball before bouncing upwards angle at blinding speeds, creating a V-shaped slash.
  • Attack medium Version - Sonic performs the same action, only in the opposite direction
  • Attack h Version - Sonic performs the move twice in quick succession, forming a W-shaped slash.

Spin Charge - [delayable] Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCB + Exchange button

  • Sonic curls into his ball form and rapidly spins in place. Upon release, he charges forward along the ground and can change directions a set number of times.

Let 'er Rip! - Arcade Stick HCB + Attack button

  • Attack light Version - upon grabbing them, Sonic tosses the opponent into ground and crashes right onto them in ball form before leaping off of them.
  • Attack medium Version - Sonic leaps into the air and, upon grabbing them, throws the opponent down and dives onto the opponent in ball form while spinning on top of them before leaping back.
  • Attack h Version - after getting a hold of the opponent, Sonic tosses them into the ground behind him and begins spinning right on top of them before rolling over their person in a flash.

Lightspeed Overdrive - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCB + Attack lightAttack medium

  • A Decisive Action where Sonic leaps into the wall behind before leaping off of it and curling into a ball, repeatedly crashing into his opponent with incredible force afterwards.

Blue Hurricane - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCF + Attack lightAttack medium

  • A Decisive Action where Sonic turns himself into a powerful tornado that racks up damage as it continuously hits his foe.

Final Rush - AS QCF + Attack hExchange button

  • Sonic's Decisive Climax, where he taps into a fraction of his true power before rushing straight to the opponent. He then unleashes a lightning-fast barrage of blows, finishing it off with a powerful Spin Dash.

Brave Blue Typhoon - Arcade-Stick-DownArcade-Stick-DownArcade-Stick-Down + Attack hExchange button

  • Sonic's Shutdown finisher. He begins by pulling the opponent in by turning into a stationary vortex, launching them high into the air upon contact before the Blue Blur repeatedly crashes through his opponent with multiple spin attacks. He then finishes with one final Spin Attack that sends both himself and his helpless foe straight into the ground.
