Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles hang out at Sonic’s apartment, where they get a news flash of a nearby beach, where scientists have discovered a mysterious dark emerald. This is one of the Dark Chaos Emeralds. Team Sonic decide to go to that beach and get the emerald before Eggman does. They run to the scientists and eventually convince them to give them the emerald, but their trip back to Sonic’s apartment is interrupted by Dr. Eggman, who takes the emerald to make Metal Sonic more powerful. They almost defeat Metal Sonic, but he gets away. However, Silver, Blaze, and a mysterious dark echidna stop Eggman and teleport him somewhere mysterious. Team Sonic decide to go to Eggman’s base so they can track Eggman.

Once they use the tracker, they find Eggman at Angel Island. They take the Hurricane to get there and see Silver, Blaze and that echidna fighting Eggman over the Dark Chaos Emerald. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles run after Silver, Blaze, and the echidna, who are a team called Team Revolution, and they fight, but their fight ends when they realize that they’re looking for the same thing: the dark and normal Chaos Emerlads. The echidna introduces herself to be Shade the Echidna, the guardian of the Dark Master Emerald, which is on Devil Island. When the dimensions collided, Devil Island came to Mobius. They decide to split into 2 groups. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles will find the Chaos Emeralds while Silver, Blaze, and Shade will find the Dark Chaos Emeralds.

Team Sonic go to a desert, where they fight one of Eggman’s robots, but Sally, Nicole, and Rotor help them defeat it. Tails has a pep talk with Nicole, his girlfriend. The two teams decide that they will both find the Chaos Emeralds. This leads them to a skyscraper, which Nicole directs them to. In that skyscraper, they see that a party is happening. At that party, they meet up with Team Rose, Amy, Katie, and Cream. The two teams put together that this party is happening because Eggman used Chaos Control with one of the Dark Chaos Emeralds, which makes the opposite of what you want happen, and he attempted to kill them. They fight a whole army of Eggman’s robots, but Eggman gets away with the emerald. The two teams plan to get all of the Dark Chaos Emeralds that Eggman has collected before continuing to find the rest of the normal Chaos Emeralds.

Team Sonic and Team Rose fly the Hurricane towards Eggman’s base. Their target is the Egg Carrier because that is where the Dark Chaos Emeralds are located. Team Sonic go under the base to fly the Egg Carrier while Team Rose go into the base to turn on its power. Team Sonic fly the Egg Carrier while Team Rose make a desperate escape from Eggman’s base and barely make it onto the Egg Carrier. Tails puts the Egg Carrier in auto pilot mode and the two teams meet in the middle of the ship. Team Sonic steal the emeralds and take them to Silver, Blaze, and Shade while Team Rose go to the cockpit and fly it to a safe destination. Team Sonic fly away with the emeralds, but due to their lack of flying skills, Team Rose crash the Egg Carrier.

Team Sonic fly the Hurricane to the destination that Tails has scanned that Silver, Blaze, and Shade are, but they are ambushed by flying Eggman robots. Fortunately, they shoot them all down and arrive at a jungle. At that jungle, they run into the Chaotix, Vector, Espio, and Charmy. They give them the emeralds and Knuckles, who has been their leader for some time, tells them to take them to Silver, Blaze, and Shade. After that, they use Tails’s scanner to find the next Chaos Emerald, which is at a volcano. At the end of the volcano, they meet up with Team Dark, Shadow, Omega, and Shard. The six of them fight against the newly constructed metal counterparts of all of all of them except Shard, who has a clone with an Eggman-themed paint job. They find that Sonic does not have the Dark Chaos Emeralds, so they go away. The two teams decide to split up to find the Chaos Emeralds.

At that facility, they find the Metal Battalion being powered by the Dark Chaos Emeralds. They fight against Eggman’s new dinosaur-shaped robot.

The gameplay is very similar to the original, with 3D gameplay that is similar to the classic Sega Genesis games, and the ability to switch between speed, flight, and power types. However, the characters' special abilities and the game's physics are more similar to the ''Sonic Adventure'' games and ''[[Sonic Battalion]].'' Much like the original, each of the game's stories are different to suit different players.

Sonic Super Heroes is a 2026 platform video game developed by Sora Ltd & Bandai Namco and published by Sega to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It was released for the Sega Globe on June 23, 2026. It is a sequel to the 2003 game Sonic Heroes , more than 20 years later.

Plot

Team Sonic

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles hang out at Sonic’s apartment, where they get a news flash of a nearby beach, where scientists have discovered a mysterious dark emerald. This is one of the Dark Chaos Emeralds. Team Sonic decide to go to that beach and get the emerald before Eggman does. They run to the scientists and eventually convince them to give them the emerald, but their trip back to Sonic’s apartment is interrupted by Dr. Eggman, who takes the emerald to make Metal Sonic more powerful.
