Sonic Riders: Off the Ground is an upcoming 3D Sonic Riders game for Xbox 360, 3DS, Wii U, and PS Vita. It is the first Sonic Riders game to be released on Wii U, 3DS, and PS Vita. There are 8 teams; Heroes, Dark, Rose, Chaotix, Retro, Eggman, Future, and Rogues. This also sparks the return of Classic Sonic & Classic Tails from Sonic Generations.
Gameplay
Sonic Riders: Off the Ground plays like most Sonic Riders games. There is the addition of the Board Customizier feature, which allows players to create stats and their own personal Extreme Gear/Bike via this mode. A new type of vechicle is the "Eggheads", which are some of Eggman's machines, and are varied by character (Example: Modern Sonic obtains the Egg Dragoon Bike, and Classic Tails gets the Drill Board). Also, there are 4 different sections of a racetrack. They include: Air, Land, Water, and Type. Type requires a specific type of board/bike to get through (Example: Tropical Treetops' Type section requires a Speed or Water board/bike).

In the Heroes' opening cutscene, Sonic is seen atop a building in Metal City, waiting for a sign from Eggman's new EX World Grand Prix. He hears the sound of police sirens blarring, and turns around to see what the cars are chasing; a familar foe. Sonic gets on his Extreme Gear, the Type-S, and chases after the foe.

After catching up to Jet at Metal City Museum, Sonic finds out that Jet wants nothing more then the city's Chaos Emerald! Just before Sonic can react, Jet sends Wave and Storm to fend him off while he heads to Metal Jetport. Sonic radios Tails and Knuckles to defeat Wave and Storm. You play the Motor Madness missions as Tails and Knux.

When Team Heroes reaches the Jetport, they sees Jet making a getaway on a cargo plane with Wave,Storm, and the Chaos Emerald! While racing toward them, Sonic and Knuckles accidentally get left behind. Tails' faith and know-how will be helpful here.
