Sonic Revolution is video game created by Sonic Team and published by Sega, The game released worldwide on June 23 2016 on the Wii U, Playstation 4 and Xbox One to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise. The game serves as a soft-reboot to the series, rebranding the characters and updating designs while keeping the universe intact. The game features the long awaited return of the Sonic Adventure style gameplay and other elements like verus/co-op multiplayer and Chao Gardens.
Soft-Reboot
The game serves as a soft-reboot to the series changing characters designs and personalities on a less drastic scale while still keeping the Sonic universe intact. In this world Sonic and co live in is similar to the world of Sonic Unleashed featuring realist enviroments with cartoony human characters.
Changes in Design:
- Amy's hair and dress fall naturally with her dress loosing it's hoop-like design
- Sonic and Amy are both slightly lighter in colour, more closely resembling their classic looks
- Knuckles has new shoes that feature a less lego-like design
Changes in personality:
- Sonic is more cocky then before, feeling like he can do things on his own all the time, over the course of the game he overcomes this and learns that he sometimes needs help
- Amy is less obsessed with Sonic although her crush on him is still clear
- Knuckles acts more like he did in the adventure games, a hot-headed, naive, loner as opposed to recent games where he has been portrayed as an idiot
Plot
The games main plot is spit up into 9 stories, each following one of the characters. These characters are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Rouge, Silver, Blaze and the last story which does not feature one main character and instead has the characters teaming up for one giant level.
