Sonic Cascade is a platforming video game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. An entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, the game plays homage to the Sonic Adventure sub-series by including multiple different gameplay styles - albeit this time with a selection of multiple, more simpler plots. The game was released in 2019 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Sonic Cascade, for the most part, is a 3D platforming video game. Although each character plays slightly differently, all of them can run, jump, attack enemies in a certain fashion, and collect the game's main collectible, rings. Being damaged causes the character to lose some of their rings.

Sonic Zone

Sonic Zone is the main segment of the game. Here, the player plays as Sonic, and has to travel through seven different zones as fast as possible without getting a Game Over. Each zone has two acts, although the second act of the Red, Purple and White Zones feature some sort of boss battle.

When the player starts Sonic Zone for the first time, they are given five lives (technically four, but the number zero counts as a life). If Sonic loses all of his lives at any point, the player will have to start the entire mode again from the beginning of Green Zone. However, the player can buy extra lives with the rings they have collected.

In order for Sonic to survive attacks from enemies, he must hold at least one ring. If he is attacked by an enemy or obstacle, he will drop 30 rings (or all of his rings if he has less than 30). Taking damage with no rings causes Sonic to lose a life.

The premise for Sonic Zone involves Sonic investigating an invention built by the mysterious Professor Dicey Gamer. Dicey has supposedly built a "fun" indoor virtual reality world for the public. However, Sonic eventually discovers that Dicey has used the Chaos Emeralds to power up the world, and plans on roboticising the park's visitors.
