Sonic Adventure 3: Enerjak Reborn is an action, adventure, and platformer game and the third installment of the Sonic Adventure Series. This takes place after the events of Sonic Adventure 2: Project Shadow, but the events of Sonic Heroes never occurred until a few games later. It was released in May 2, 2017.

Story
The evil Dr. Eggman has formed an alliance with a mysterious group of technology-driven individuals known as the Dark Legion, led by an albino echidna scientist named Dr. Finitevus and a floating head named Dimitri. Together, they are seeking the power of an ancient entity consumed with unlimited Chaos Energy called Enerjak. In order to do this, they must find 13 ancient artifacts known as the Albion Stones to awaken it. In addition, Eggman has hired a trio of mercenaries known as Team Hooligan and has unleashed Metal Sonic to search for the sacred stones. Now it's up to Sonic and his allies to put a stop to the alliance of villains and save the world once again.
The story mode consists of three stories focusing on the threats characters each battle respectively - Eggman Empire (Sonic's Story), The Dark Legion (Knuckles' Story), and Team Hooligan (The Chaotix's Story).
Eggman Empire: Sonic's Story
The characters of this story are Sonic, Tails, and Amy. Upon hearing that Eggman is in search of the 13 Albion Stones to awaken the Enerjak, Sonic, with the help of Tails and Amy, go on a journey to find them before he does.
Dark Legion: Knuckles' Story
The characters of this story are Knuckles, Rouge, and newcomer Julie-Su. After meeting another echidna who is battling the Dark Legion, Knuckles agrees to help her defeat them and save Angel Island. A certain thieving bat also joins the fray.
Team Hooligan: The Chaotix's Story
The characters of this story are Vector, Espio, and Charmy. The Chaotix Detective Agency are assigned to investigate the whereabouts of Fang, Bean, and Bark, who have broken out of prison to side with Dr. Eggman in finding the Albion Stones.
Enerjak: Last Story

The world's fastest hedgehog who loves speed and adventure. Sonic jumps into another adventure to stop Eggman from awakening the legendary Enerjak.

Non-Playable Characters
Dr. Eggman
A mad scientist bent on world domination and Sonic's arch enemy. Eggman has formed an alliance with the Dark Legion to awaken the powerful Enerjak with the 13 Albion Stones.
Dr. Finitevus
An albino echidna scientist who formerly worked in Albion and is the leader of the Dark Legion. Finitevus seeks the power of Enerjak to gain immortality and rule over Angel Island.
Dimitri
A mysterious floating head who, along with Finitevus, seeks to find the Enerjak. Dimitri has a shared history with the Enerjak, being that he was the third incarnation.
Enerjak
A demigod spirit born on pure Chaos energy millenniums ago in Albion. Due to being too powerful, its spirit was stored away deep within Angel Island.
Fang the Sniper
A bounty hunter who is the leader of Team Hooligan. Fang has escaped from prison and has made a deal with Dr. Eggman to find the 13 Albion Stones. He is also one of Sonic's long-time adversaries.
Bark the Polar Bear
One of Fang's partners and the muscle of Team Hooligan. Silent, but lets his strength do the talking.
Bean the Dynamite
Another of Fang's partners who is eccentric and has a habit of throwing bombs at things. He has a close friendship with Bark.
Locke
An echidna who happens to be the father of Knuckles who resides in the secret headquarters deep within Angel Island. He appears to be the one to hold the secrets to Knuckles' past.
Vanilla the Rabbit
Cream's loving mother. She can be seen inside her home in Emerald Town.
Big the Cat
A large purple cat who lives in the Mystic Ruins jungle and is the owner of his frog pet aptly named Froggy.
Orbot
One of Eggman's minions. Loyal to his creator, but mocks him.
Cubot
Another of Eggman's minions with Orbot. Unlike Orbot, he's not the brightest of the two.

Modes
Story Mode
This mode involves playing the three stories and the last story. There will be a percentage meter that indicates the progress of your completion of the story.
Adventure Mode
This mode involves the option of visiting the 6 Adventure Fields and within them, you can chat with characters and citizens, enter in stages, collecting emblems in which there are 3 in each of them, and entering into to the Chao Gardens.
Stage Select
This mode consists of playing stages with any character you choose and completing the 7 missions which are as follows:
- Get to the Goal Ring: Simply reach the goal ring.
- Collect a number of rings: Collect the given number of rings. The number ranges from 100 to 300.
- Defeat a number of enemies: Defeat a given number of enemies. The number ranges from 30 to 60.
- Find the lost Chao: Use the Mystic Melody on the ancient ruins to unlock a new pathway to rescue the missing Chao.
- Get to the Goal Ring before time runs out: Simply reach the goal ring at a given time. The time limit can depend on how long the stage is.
- Get to the Goal Ring before your rival: Race against a character to the goal ring. You can choose any character you want to fight against.
- Clear Hard Mode: Clear the stage with an increased difficulty.
Boss Mode
This mode consists of selecting boss battles from any characters' story and the final bosses.
Mini-Games
Here is the list of Mini-Games as follows:
- Kart Racing: Select any character to compete in Kart Racing. The courses are located in Emerald Town, Central City, and Egg Metropolis.
- Sky Chase: As Sonic and Tails, you control the Tornado to shoot all enemies in sight.
- Hedgehog Hammer: As Amy, you must use her trusty hammer to hit as many mole-like Sonic and Super Sonic heads to gain points while avoiding Eggman heads.
- Boardsports: This mode involves reaching the goal ring via boarding. They come in three types - Regular Boarding (Snowboarding or Sandboarding), Skateboarding, or Surfing. The courses for regular boarding are Sandopolis, Blizzard Peaks, Final Battleground. The Skateboarding courses are Suburban Sprint, Central Speedway, and Subway Rush. The Surfing levels are Palmtree Shores, Metropolis Resort, and Tropical Angel.
- Big's Fishing: As Big, you must successfully fish out as much fish as you can before time runs out.
- Enemy Gauntlet: This mini-game consists of eliminating a number of enemies in a certain time. You can select up to 4 characters for this mode.
Chao
This is where you raise your Chao in Chao Gardens located in all six Adventure Fields. When you raise a Chao with any character, it will reflect of the character's personality and abilities. Chao Racing and Chao Karate from Sonic Adventure 2 returns as features of this mode and a new feature Chao Soccer.
Multiplayer
This will be up to 4 players. Here is the list of modes which are as follows:
- Racing: Whoever reaches the goal ring first wins.
- Battle: Whoever reduces their opponent's health gauge wins. If it's 3 or 4 players, it will be elimination based.
- Treasure Hunting: Whoever finds two Chaos Emeralds wins. For 2 players, the number of Emeralds is 3. If it's 3 players, the number of Emeralds is 4. If it is 4 players, the number of Emeralds is 5. The characters to play this mode are Knuckles, Rouge, Julie-Su, Tikal, Chaos, and Metal Knuckles.
- Boss Battle: Whoever defeats the boss first wins.
- Kart Racing: Whoever reach the third lap wins.
- Chao Racing: The Chao who reaches the finish line first wins.
- Chao Karate: The Chao is declared the winner if they beat their opponent in 3 rounds.
- Chao Soccer: The team who scores the most points before time runs out will win.
Extras
Select this mode and you will see content such as Character Bios (Characters, Bosses, and Enemies), Story Cutscenes (which are unlocked after completing a story), Emblem Results, and Sound Test.
Options
Selecting this will allow you to adjust features such as controller vibration, sounds, language voice-over, captions, menu screen theme, and data configuration.

Trivia
- The subtitle of the game "Enerjak Reborn" is the same as the story arc from the Archie Comics.
- In contrast to The Chaotix being re-introduced in Sonic Heroes, this is actually their first appearance since Knuckles Chaotix in that they remember Knuckles and Dr. Eggman in their respective meetings.
- This marks the first appearance of Fang, Bean, and Bark since Sonic the Fighters.
- Mighty is mentioned in Knuckles' story when he meets The Chaotix.
- This is the first time since Sonic 3 & Knuckles where Dr. Eggman is the final boss of the game, with the other being Enerjak (who is actually Dr. Finitevus).
- This game marks the first time a character in their super form can be played for the entirety of a stage (Last Citadel).
- Of all the trios, Knuckles' team has the more females than males in the team (Rouge and Julie-Su).
