Sonic 2 is a 2021 first person platformer/action title on the Cyclone Derecho. It is a continuation of Sonic on the Cyclone Vortex.

Story[]

Dr. Eggman wants to gather the 7 Chaos Emeralds to power his Ion Cannon superweapon to destroy Central City and cripple the planet's government so the Eggman Empire can take over. Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower both go on a mission to stop him from firing the cannon and taking over the world.

Cerulean Heights[]

Sonic and Tails find the first Chaos Emerald in Cerulean Heights, basically Green Hill Zone with the green replaced by a bright sky blue color.

Electric Paradise Zone[]

This zone just bristles with electric energy. Sonic and Tails find the second Chaos Emerald here.

Rusty Park Zone[]

Sonic and Tails move on to Rusty Park, an amusement park once under construction by Eggman Enterprises as part of an evil scheme that has since been abandoned. They find their next emerald here.

Marine Beach Zone[]

The fourth Chaos Emerald can be found in this zone reminiscent of Emerald Coast and Wave Ocean.

Lost River Zone[]

This level takes place above a rushing river, and the 5th emerald can be found here.

Marble Trouble Zone[]

In this Marble Zone clone lies the 6th emerald

Egg Shuttle Zone[]

Sonic and Tails sneak onto Eggman's newest vessel to end his plan.

Transit Zone[]

It this 1-act stage, Sonic and Tails follow Eggman, who unveils his latest creation, Mechhog, to take the 6 Chaos Emeralds from them, already in posession of 1. After trashing him, they move on to the final battle.

Ion Cannon[]

Sonic and Tails go to destroy the Ion Cannon, and face off against Eggman one more time in their super forms.

Reviews[]

Game Informer []

10/10 Sonic 2 is a great continuation of Sonic's new story. Once again, Sonic is saving the world from Eggman's superweapon. This time, however, it is not a giant floating effigy of Eggman's head, but an Ion Cannon that could tear the planet apart in seconds. Graphics and gameplay are great and, once again, the game is relatively glitch free.

Gamespot []

8/10 Sonic 2 is a testament to Cyclone's handling of their new Sonic franchise. Cyclone seems to be handling the blue hedgehog much better than SEGA, who's own Sonic franchise had deteriorated and improved in a vicious cycle throughout Sonic's history.

Metacritic []

Critics have given the game a 90%. They feel Cyclone has potential to give the blue hedgehog a new home if SEGA were to ever let go of their speedy mascot, which would, of course, never happen. Sonic 2 is an improvement over it's predecessor.

IGN []

9/10 The sequel to the reboot Sonic title 2 years ago has improved the issues it's predecessor had. However, we feel it's story was very similar to the original Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Well that is not a bad thing, it felt a little unoriginal and cliche.

Overall Fan Review []

Fans feel Sonic 2 is a great continuation to it's predecessor. However, some fans expected more out of Cyclone, considering their reputation with the first game. Overall fan rating is 95%.
