Much like his blue-furred counterpart, Shadow is an incredibly mobile character, boasting incredible movement speed and a teleport special. However, very much unlike the Blue Blur, Shadow sports tools that put him much closer to being a well-rounded character with an ever-so-slight emphasis on a rushdown-oriented approach. On top of the general simplicity in his playstyle, Shadow also boasts an impressive damage output in many of his attacks, including his Style Action, all of which contribute to him being a great pick for beginner players.

Similarly to his blue-furred counterpart, however, Shadow is at his most dangerous when he's up close and personal with the opponent, since many of his normals, though indeed very quick, don't cover a whole lot of range, making his neutral game relatively weak when compared to others. In addition, beyond his Burning Sky special - not many of his moves prove to be reliable options for defensive play, and his greater durability can only help him so much.

Chaos Slash - Exchange button

  • Shadow's Style Action, where he channels Chaos Energy into one of his limbs before letting out a powerful Chaos-empowered strike.

Shadow Hawk - Arcade Modifier Air Arcade-Stick-Down + Attack medium

  • A Command Normal where Shadow quickly teleports slightly above the opponent's back before striking them with a downward kick.

Black Bolt - [delayable] AS Right + Attack h

  • A Command Normal where Shadow curls into a ball and smashes himself right onto the opponent, knocking them away with incredible force.

Chaos Spear - [delayable] Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCF + Exchange button

  • Shadow channels Chaos Energy onto his hand before launching forth a projectile in the shape of a spearhead. The amount of damage dealt is directly proportional to how long it's charged, while it's travel speed is inveresly proportional.

Chaos Lance - [fully charged] Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCF + Exchange button

  • Should Shadow fully charge the move, he instead launches a beam of Chaos Energy that covers an entire screen's worth of horizontal distance and deals multiple hits for additional damage.

Rocket Drive - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCF + Attack light / Attack medium

  • Attack light Version - Shadow performs a short-ranged, horizontal flying kick that knocks the opponent back.
  • Attack medium Version - Shadow performs two kicks before rushing forward with a hard-hitting, flying kick.

  • Attack light Version - Shadow performs an upward kick shrouded in flame.
  • Attack medium Version - Shadow performs a roundhouse kick coated in flame that hits low.
  • Attack h Version - Shadow lets out a hard-hitting, flame-coated forward kick that sends the opponent flying.

Fire Rocket - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCF + Attack h

  • An EX Move where Shadow warps forward and follows it with a forward flying kick coated in flames, knocking the opponent away. In midair, he instead performs a hard-hitting dive kick, also coated in flame.

Burning Sky - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS S + Attack button

  • Attack light Version - Shadow leaps up into the air foot-first with a hard-hitting, flame-coated kick aimed upwards, knocking the opponent up with him.
  • Attack medium Version - Shadow sends himself and the opponent skyward with a fiery kick before following with a downward kick that knocks them back down.
  • Attack h Version - Shadow performs an upward, flying kick coated in flames that deals multiple hits before knocking them back down with a downward kick.

Chaos Control - AS QCB + Attack button

  • Attack light Version - Shadow teleports a set distance forward.
  • Attack medium Version - Shadow teleports a set distance backwards.
  • Attack h Version - Shadow teleports directly behind his opponent’s position.

Chaos Blast ver.β - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCF + Attack lightAttack medium

  • A Decisive Action where Shadow channels a large amount of Chaos Energy into the palm of his hand, forming a large sphere of raw power, before firing it forward and dealing heavy damage.

Black Tempest Desolation - AS QCB + Attack lightAttack medium

  • A Decisive Action where Shadow rushes with a series of flaming kicks before finishing with one final horizontal flying kick coated in flames that deals plenty of damage.

Chaos Unleash - Arcade-Stick-DownArcade-Stick-Down + Attack hExchange button

  • A Decisive Action where Shadow disengages his Inhibitor Rings, granting himself a massive boost in speed and power for a limited time.

Chaos Blast ver.α - Arcade Modifier (Air) AS QCF + Attack hExchange button

  • Shadow's Decisive Climax, where Shadow channels Chaos Energy into both of his hands, between which a ball of energy is formed, before firing off a massive beam of mass destruction towards the opponent.

Chaos Cataclysm - Arcade-Stick-DownArcade-Stick-DownArcade-Stick-Down + Attack hExchange button

  • Shadow's Shutdown finisher, where he ensnares the opponent within space-time rift induced via Chaos Control and surrounds his trapped foe with a large number of Chaos Spears before firing them all at once, utterly annihilating his foe with a barrage of projectiles.
