Once a thief of some infamy, Serghei Vasile's attempt to steal from a powerful witch resulted in his demise. As punishment, she cursed his corpse, causing him to rise up from death as a strigoi.

While alive, Serghei was a mostly unremarkable Mobian; while definitely capable of hand-to-hand combat, and well-versed in the art of stealth, he had no supernatural powers to speak of.
After his death and "resurrection" into a strigoi, Serghei was given powers he could only dream of. His physical strength was heightened to terrifying levels, to the point where he could lift an entire ton with little effort, and his speed and reflexes have increased considerably as well; he can run up to 90 miles per hour, and can easily outpace and dodge the attacks of slower foes.
Physical enhancements are not the only strengths Serghei gained; he is functionally immortal. While much more durable than he seems, he can technically "die"; however, he comes back to life after a while, with the time needed to resurrect depending on his severely damaged his body was upon death. In some cases, it could take up to a week for him to resurrect.
He also has the ability to shapeshift, but can only take on one form, being that of a large, feral beast of unknown species and potentially demonic origin. He is also capable of manipulating the element of Darkness via Spectramancy, and is quite proficient at it, being able to utilize mid to high-tier techniques of the Darkness element.
Being a form of vampire, Serghei can also drain the vitality of his opponents by directly spilling their blood with his claws and teeth. He feeds on blood and raw flesh to heal his own wounds and revitalize himself.

Being a strigoi, Serghei has a strong aversion to holy artifacts, such as crucifixes and holy water. Garlic and weapons made from aspen wood also sap his strength, and ingesting garlic could easily be fatal to him. If a stake of aspen wood is lodged into his corpse when he dies, he won't be able to rise up until the stake is removed.
While Serghei greatly dislikes bright lights, he does not burn up in sunlight, and it does not seem to harm him; however, his eyes are quite sensitive to light, and his eyesight falters in bright, sunny weather.
