Sam Stag is the muscle bound personal bodyguard of Ringmaster, his family having protected the owner of Disaster Club for generations. Now, with war on the horizon, Sam is on the front lines with his Power Gene enhanced strength and is ready to protect Ringmaster no matter what.

Playstyle[]

Playstyle: Rushdown

Sam Stag is the standard “slow and powerful” archetype, able to dish out massive damage in close range and having a huge pool of health but being unable to keep up with the faster members of the cast. Notably, he is the largest character in the main cast, meaning he has a larger hitbox but he also has very large attacks to make up for his lacking speed. This means that Sam’s players can opt for a very offense oriented style, least the other members of the cast outrun them.

Sam’s Throttles both change his Slam move to fit different playstyles. Throttle 1 allows it to become a more effective combo opener for the cost of a bit of Strike Meter while Throttle 2 allows him to punish players who think they’re safe in the air.

Move Name Input Type Description
Slam DC Up+DC 1 button/DC 2 button/DC 3 button on the ground. Command Normal Sam slams the ground, knocking the opponent up into the air if it hits. DC 1 button is a stomp that hits low, DC 2 button is a fist slam that hits mid and then low, and DC 3 button is a command grab that grabs opponents and smashes them into the ground but doesn’t ground bounce. As they have similar animations, this is Sam’s primary mixup tool.
Charge IMG 0408+DC 1 button Special Sam runs across the screen, horns down, damaging anything he hits. In the air, Stag falls downwards with his arm outstretched, damaging anyone in the way of his fall, before starting the charge as soon as he lands. The charge can be cancelled early with DC Down.
Gorge IMG 0408+DC 2 button on the ground. Special Sam stabs forward with his horns, throwing any opponents that are hit by them upwards. Charge can be cancelled into Gorge upon hitting the opponent. Knocks the opponent a good distance away if they block the attack, making it hard to punish Sam after he does it.
Smash IMG 0408+DC 2 button in the air. Special Command grab. Sam grabs the opponent with one hand and smashes them into the ground. Aerial combo ender and a good way to catch airborn opponents off guard.
Elbow IMG 0408+DC 3 button Special Sam performs a downward elbow strike that ground bounces the opponent. Primarily used for combos, as it has good reach but is unsafe on block.
Spinner IMG 0408+DC 4 button Special Sam spins around, arms outstretched, damaging anyone that he hits.
Grapple DC QCB+DC 1 button on the ground Special A command grab. Sam Stag grabs the opponent, lifts them up and smashes them into the ground.
Shoulder DC QCB+DC 1 button in the air Special Sam Stag shoulder barges the opponent, rushing forward a short distance.
Strong Punch DC HCF+DC 1 button+DC 2 button on the ground. Super A blockable command grab. Sam grabs the opponent, throws them up, and then finishes with a high-damage punch once they fall back down.
Strong Pummel DC HCF+DC 1 button+DC 2 button in the air Super A blockable command grab. Sam grabs the opponent, smashes them into the ground, and then pummels them rapidly before finishing with a stomp.
Strong Spinner. DC HCF+DC 3 button+DC 4 button Super Sam performs a faster version of Spinner that deals considerably more damage.
Finisher DC 1 button+DC 2 button+DC 3 button+DC 4 button Finishing Strike Sam grabs the opponent and throws them up into the air. He then waits for them to come down, grabs them, smashes them into the floor multiple times and then chucks them over his shoulder before walking away, not looking back.

Throttles[]

Throttle 1: Sam can cancel Knockdown Rush into Slam.

“Dean’s collaborators failed. I defeated Beautyface with my bare hands and then fought Dean myself. I didn’t want to fight him. I merely wanted to bring him round to my way of thinking. To my surprise, I was successful. Dean will be the future bodyguard of the Ringmaster, but most importantly, he’s my son again.”

Bad Ending[]

Sam fights Ringmaster as the final boss.

“Someone managed to convince Ringmaster I was on his sister’s side. I don’t know who, all I know was that a jackal in a mask visited him the night before. He attacked me, thinking I was on their side, even though the fight was over. I beat him, but then another Ringmaster stood in his place. Something is messing with my mind...but what?”

Rewards[]

  • Completing arcade once with Sam unlocks Reach for the Stars for the jukebox.
  • Completing arcade twice with Sam unlocks the Black Void stage from story mode as a regularly selectable stage.
