Friday Morning[]
It was just about 8:00 AM when the staff finally allowed their guests and attendees to begin entering the convention center. Panels wouldn't start until 9, so there was an hour for guests to get their badges, whether they pre-registered, or were planning on buying a badge at the door. The cosplayers and normal guests came flooding in as a long line began to form that started at the registration tables, and went down the stairs and down a few halls. The line may have been long, but it was never still, and kept moving. No wonder they had the floors taped off! To make sure that the line wasn't going out the door persay.
"Whoa! This place is already packed and it's not even time for the panels yet!" A voice spoke, belonging to a young girl who stood alongside two others. The dog was dressed as Mey-Rin from Black Butler, the wolf was dressed as Ciel Phantomhive from the same anime, and the rabbit was dressed as a female Mario.
The three girls soon made it to the front of the line as they got ahold of their badges, and slipped them on around their necks. They stood together near a wall as they began to look at their copies of the schedule for the panels, events, and photoshoots.
Finn was standing in the front of the line. Shortly after he got a hold of his badge and slipped it on he heard someone compliment on his Constantine costume, Ace then noticing barely anyone was around slipped a cigarette into his mouth.
"The panels won't start until 9 and the dealers room won't open till 10." Lindsey spoke, and her two friends nodded.
"Maybe we can walk around for a bit and see where all the stuff is!" Natalie suggested, and the other two nodded as they began to venture around the convention center.
Finn was walking around the convention center only to accidentally run into Lindsey.
"Hey..." Lindsey huffed a bit as she glared at Finn, fixing her prop glasses as her friends took her hands as they headed off elsewhere.
"He didn't even excuse himself..." Lindsey huffed as Natalie sighed.
"Just forget about him. We're here to have fun! Remember?" The wolf spoke and the rabbit nodded.
"Sorry." Finn said.
An oppossum and cat stood next to the registration area wearing staff badges around their necks.
"This weekend is gonna be siiick!" The oppossum spoke with a british accent as he grinned, while the cat smirked and shook her head.
"Don't go getting all giddy Gavin. We're here as volunteers, not con goers." She responded.
"We did get in for free though~" He said and chuckled as the feline rolled her eyes.
Two teenagers were standing in line: Lee and Amber. "Amber, this is technically a comic con. Why'd you dress like that?" She was wearing a green jacket and dress, on her head she wore a creeper cap she'd borrowed from him. "Well, you didn't even bring a costume. So don't give me grief." He pulled his backpack to the front of him. "I did bring a costume, I'm not putting it on until we get inside." The pair received their badges and entered in amazement. Upon entering, Lee found a place to change into his costume. He can out dressed as | Anguirus from the Godzilla series. "Whoa... That looks warm," Amber said. "It's just something I put together in my spare time," Lee replied.
The feline volunteer worker gasped at the costume that Lee had come out in. She grinned from ear to ear, being a rather huge Godzilla nerd thanks to her friend Gavin. She asked if she could go over to get a picture, and once she was given the OK, she wondered towards Lee and Amber, "Hey! Can I get your picture real quick?" She asked, her British accent sounding rather obvious to those who were near.
"Really? I ... Um ... Sure! I didn't expect anyone to understand it." Lee was as joyed to meet another Godzilla fan as the feline was. "Miss...?"
"Oh, Lara!" The cat replied, before holding up her camera and snapping a picture or two, "Awesome!" She grinned, "Thanks!"
"I'm Lee, and this is Amber" he said as his companion returned from whatever she was doing. "You're welcome!" They walked further in and stopped at one of the booths being put up.
Lara raced back over to Gavin who smirked, "Did you get it?"
"Duh." The cat smiled and looked at the photo.
Reens walked slowly, looking around in silent awe. This was her first ever Comic-Con, and she was as nervous as she was excited. Unlike many of the participants, Reens was not in costume, although she did have one tucked away in her shoulder bag if she felt like wearing it. She wore the same outfit she wore every day, with the addition of her badge she had pre-registered.
"Just keep your head down," Reens muttered to herself as she walked around the recently constructed booth. "Keep your head down. Grandpa worked too hard this week for you to waste money here. Keep your head down. The plane ticket was expensive enough." She looked up too late as she crashed into someone and fell flat on her bottom, the costume spilling out of her shoulder bag. Insult was added to injury as a blue slushie spilled onto the costume, staining it. Tears welled up in her eyes as she pulled her costume out. "I spent weeks making this... stupid..."
"Oh my gosh, are you alright?" The person Reens ran into asked, turning around. She was a dark-gray spider with four arms, four legs, eight brown eyes, and brown hair tied up in a ponytail. She was wearing a costume that was supposed to look like General Grievous from Star Wars, with off-white plating around her arms, legs, torso, and even a mask which she currently had up on top of her head, along with the standard badge everyone else had.
Reens blinked back tears before getting up, taking the full dress out of her bag, dejected. "Yeah, I'm okay. My costume is ruined, but other than that I'm just fine." She looked up at the spider, intrigued. "General Grievous, from the Clone Wars, right? Really like your costume."
"Oh, thanks," the arachnid said with a smile, "Its really all I could think of that could make use of, well, these." She raised her four arms as she finished, and lowered them after a moment.
When the accident happened, Amber and Lee had run off, then they showed up next to Reens "Here," Amber said, handing the hedgehog some paper towels.
"Thanks for the paper towels, but I don't think slush comes out of silk very easy with just paper towels," Reens said dejectedly, wiping off the rest of it that hadn't already set. "Hey, is that the guy from Godzilla?"
"Um... Uh, yeah," Lee said, pulling the bottom part of the mask off.
"Here, I'll help too," the spider said, grabbing some paper towels with three of her arms and kneeling down, using the fourth as support as she tried to wipe away what she could. "My name's Cassandra, by the way. What's yours?"
Reens blushed slightly. "My real name is Rain, but everyone calls me Reens," she admitted. "It's nice to meet you guys. I was planning on wearing this later, but it looks like I'll have to go home and try to wash it out."
Amber spoke rather loudly. "Can I see it, Miss Rain?" She grabbed Lee, who was walking off, by the shoulder.
"Uh, sure," Reens said, pulling it out. It was a medieval-type dress that was dark red with gold trimmings. "You don't have to call me 'miss'. I'm probably about the same age you are. And 'Reens' is just fine." She blushed a bit harder. "I don't think it's very well-made, considering I made it myself..."
"Nonsense," Cassandra said, standing upright, "I think it looks beautiful."
Walking into the convention center were two felines, one dressed as Maka and the other dressed as Soul. The male glanced around, "Look at this place! It's huge!" He grinned, and nudged Alex, "I didn't think these conventions were so awesome...!" He seemed to get as giddy as a child at Disney World.
Amber stood up to her full height, which was at least six or seven inches shorter than Reens. "No offense, Miss.. Er.. Reens, but I don't think we're the same age." Lee got up next to his companion, standing an inch or two taller than Amber.
Reens' face grew pale. "Wait... you're kids? Where are your folks? You can't just be wandering around without adult supervision! Well, technically, I am an adult, but still!"
"They're not that young," Cassandra commented, folding two of her arms while adjusting the off-white plating on her other two, "Besides, they look like they can handle themselves."
"Hey, they're still kids to me," Reens defended herself with a huff. "Anyway, why did you want to see my costume? It's ruined, and I don't have a second one on hand. At least not here; I left the other one at home."
Amber replied to Reens question. "Cause it looked nice, Bye!" Before scrambling away from her. Lee spoke up. "Sorry about my... Friend; She's overly expressive, and I better catch up with her before something happens. Bye!" He walked after Amber upon finishing.
"Ookay, maybe not her, but he seems capable of keeping her in-line," the spider said, watching the two run off. "Anyway, what brings you here, Reens?"
"Well, I'm a little new to the whole 'con' thing. This is my first one," Reens admitted. "I left my other costume at home, so I guess I won't be joining any costume contests."
While Reens was speaking with the spider, two rather meak looking guys watched from afar. Ah, the seemed to be singling out other good looking girls. The parrot straightened up his Star Wars t-shirt as he rubbed his hands together, "Have you ever seen so many girls in cosplay before in one PLACE? It's a dream!" He whispered, before the weasel seemed to be almost out of breath just by being in the room, "And it's only FRIDAY! What do you think it will be like during the cosplay contest tomorrow-!?" His 'partner in crime seemed to gasp and look at him, "I'm not sure but...make sure your camera is charged and ready! I won't let anything get in my way of getting the perfect pictures!" They could have been...labeled as nerds. Nerdier than the nerds in the convention center, which definitely took some skill to accomplish.
Lee managed to catch up to Amber and once again looked her costume over, then came to a decision. "We need some new costumes. What do you say we head home and come back tomorrow?" Amber laughed and nodded her head. The two walked towards the door.
Coming through the door were two wolves, a boy and girl, in casual clothes instead of being in costume like all the rest. The female would look familiar for those into the whole celebrity gossip and talk. Annabelle glanced up to the guy she walked in with, "Are you sure about this...? I'm not use to being around so many...Um..."
"Nerds?"
"Yeah..."
