Riza the Charizard is a character who appears in The Legend of Fox the Brave. He is a Charizard owned by Lerry the Bear and is one of his most frequently used Pokemon, alongside Terry the Tyranitar, as well as his second Pokemon that can Mega Evolve. While he cannot speak English(unless a story takes place from the POV of a fellow Pokemon), he has a strong personality, and quickly bonded with Maxwell Veschell, becoming his de facto protector.

Appearance

Riza is a regular Charizard, and thus resembles an orange dragon with two horns, large wings, and thin arms with three claws on each hand and foot. He has blue eyes and a large flame at the end of his tail. Riza also wears both a Charizardite X and Y, making him the only known Pokemon to swap between Mega Evolutions depending on the situation.

Personality

Despite being unable to speak English, Riza is shown to be fiercely loyal to his Trainer Lerry, and subsequently the Storm Fighters. He enjoys fighting and proving his strength, and is very close to Max.

History

As a young Charmander, Riza was given to Lerry to be taken care of, as he was sick. After recovering, Riza remained with Lerry, soon evolving into Charmeleon. It was during a fight with Metal Sonic that Riza evolved into Charizard. He has remained with Lerry since.

Powers

Riza's moveset is Flamethrower, Steel Wing, Dragon Claw, and Seismic Toss

Abilities

Like all Charizard, Riza can fly and breath fire(likely due to his Flamethrower attack). His Abilities are Blaze in his base form, Tough Claws as Mega Charizard X, and Drought as Mega Charizard Y

Weaknesses

In his base form and as Mega Charizard Y, Riza is weak to Water and Rock-Type Pokemon. As Mega Charizard X, Riza is weak to Water, Rock, Ground, and Dragon-Type Pokemon.

Trivia

Like the rest of Lerry's Pokemon(save for Terry), Riza is named after his final evolution(Charizard)

  • Riza's name can also be derived from "Rizaadon", Charizard's Japanese name.

Riza is one of two non-English-speaking Pokemon to play a major role in the series, the other being Rocket's Sceptile
