Overview
Reens the Hedgehog is a 19 year old European hedgehog and a minor character (can be changed if needed) in the main plot of Channel Mobius.
Appearance
She is of average height for a Mobian, standing at 3 feet and 7 inches. Reens has light blue eyes, lightly tanned skin, and light blue fur with dark blue hair. Part of her hair stands in a small tuft, while the rest is pulled back into a long braid. Being a server mod/repairman, Reens rarely shows her appearance on camera. She usually wears a blue turtleneck sweater, blue jeans, and sensible black shoes under a welder's apron. She wears goggles on top of her head whenever she is working on something.
She usually has a wrench or welding equipment on hand.
Personality
Reens is kind and gentle, both on and off the servers. Since she does not own her own show, she works around helping other smaller channels make their shows better, and she usually gets paid for it. She does not play roles in other people's shows, so she feels as if there is no need to change herself at all.
Though she is kind, she can become firm if the situation calls for it. She wants everyone to do their best to keep their shows online, and if they don't listen to her recommendations, then she feels as if she didn't give them good enough advice in the first place. This causes her to become firm with herself and others, trying her best to make sure recommendations are met.
Reens has never fought in the Signal City Competition, but she has participated as an audience member. The violence and savagery of the competition sometimes scares her, and so she has never felt the need to participate as a combatant. She prefers to stay out of the limelight, and as a citizen of Signal City, this may not stay as such.
History
Tinkering
Reens was born to unnamed parents and placed in a foster home, later adopted by Carmen and Alonzo Maricina. Before being adopted by the Maricinas, Reens was abused physically and emotionally by her previous foster families. As such, she bottled up her frustration and pain. The Maricinas treated her with kindness, and they gave her many presents, including a metal prosthetic for her right arm. They weren't rich by any means, but they had enough for the whole family to live comfortably. Besides gaining two parents, she also gained an older brother.
Reens eventually went to visit her Grandpa Thorpe. He taught both of his grandchildren how to work with their hands, and Reens eventually got the hang of fixing small machinery. He hired her as an assistant, though unpaid, and let her begin working on larger projects until she was around 16 years old.
Grandpa Thorpe had his own show on DW10 called "Thorpe's Corner", where he taught tutorials on how to fix small things around the house. Reens took care of some stuff on camera, such as fixing small parts and handing her grandfather his tools. Off-camera, she took care of data collection and manipulation.
Heading Out
When Reens turned 18, she had saved up enough money to rent out a small apartment near where Grandpa Thorpe lived. He still let her help with his show, and she in turn helped him build his online persona as well as her own. Eventually, the show began to die down because of low views and ratings, and soon enough died out completely. Grandpa Thorpe decided not to host again on "Channel Mobius", but Reens wanted to at least help smaller channels similar to her grandfather's get on their feet.
With her family's blessing and some extra funds provided by her adoptive parents, Reens dove into the virtual world entirely and set up her own repair shop in Signal City, "Reens' Repairs". She would travel around Signal City helping smaller channels get their feet off of the ground and into the mainstream. While working, she heard about the Signal City competition and decided to go, though only as a spectator.
The violence and savagery of the fights reminded her of the torture she had suffered at the hands of her foster families. That day, she promised herself to never get into a fight unless it was absolutely necessary. As of now, she still travels around Signal City making repairs, and avoids the arena at all costs.
Fighting Style and Abilities
Reens isn't much of a fighter, and both of her attack and defense skills are pretty weak. However, she is most proficient in speed and utility, which would slate her as the healer in a group. If an opponent gets too close, however, she will usually either hit them with her wrench or run away to a safer spot.
