Pyrosteel is an alloy that is created by mixing iron and ignisium together. Pyrosteel is a rather common alloy, as the pliable nature of ignisium makes it fairly easy to work with.
Description[]
Visually, pyrosteel is very similar to iron, but has a distinctive reddish coloration to it that can sometimes resemble rust, if not for the metallic sheen. Pyrosteel is almost always warm to the touch.
Usage[]
Weaponry[]
Unlike the overly pliable nature of ignisium that often causes it to be ill-suited for the creation of bladed weaponry, pyrosteel is able to maintain edges as sharp as conventional steel blades, making it viable for the creation of bladed weapons as long as said weapons are maintained well. The primary weakness of ignisium, corrosion via cold, is mostly unseen in pyrosteel, although extreme cold can still damage pyrosteel tools.
Similarly, it being of similar durability to base steel makes it well-suited for creating firearms as well, including specialized types of Chromatic Pulse Rifles that are geared primarily towards the usage of Fire-based cores.
Shields[]
Pyrosteel has also been used to create both shields and armor. The shields are roughly the same as a typical steel shield in terms of defensive strength, but have the added benefit of being able to deflect weak, Fire-based attacks from opponents. Pyrosteel shields are often decorated with frontal spikes, to serve as a secondary offensive option for the user.
Pyrosteel armor bears similar defensive prowess to typical steel armor, but also has the added benefit of being able to deflect weak, Fire-based attacks from opponents. The constant warmth that pyrosteel armor generates is also great for keeping the wearer warm in frigid temperatures, but ignisium-threaded clothing is often preferred due to the higher accessibility and greater overall comfort.
Actual pyrosteel shields and armor sets are also more durable overall than metal shields and armor created by mixing raw ignisium directly into them.
Special Properties[]
Pyrosteel carries over the latent sub-alignment of Fire that ignisium has. The blades of weapons forged with pyrosteel are always warm to the touch, and a user who can already manipulate Fire can easily channel their own elemental energy through the blade; as such, Fire-aligned attacks made directly with the blade, such as Inferno Slash, are strengthened by roughly 20%.
Related Materials[]
- Ignisium - An uncommon ore that is often used in the creation of armors and shields. However, due to it being as pliable as gold, it can also be turned into fibers and threaded into thick clothing to create an excellent choice of outfit for those who live in or travel through cold regions of Mobius.
- Magmadium Steel - A rare alloy created by mixing Pyrosteel with Petratin, giving it the Elemental attributes of both its base alloys (Fire and Earth).
Users[]
Anyone who uses pyrosteel in any form, for any use.
- Fire Clan of Fiamme - The smiths of the Fire Clan work frequently with pyrosteel, and many pyrosteel weapons are used by their soldiers, as well as being imported from the village as a trade good.
Notes/Trivia[]
- Pyrosteel is, obviously, a portmanteau of pyro and steel.
