Odyvia was an exoplanet inhabited by the Odyvians, which are an alien species who are known to have an interplanetary empire. However, in the last several decades, their star had a solar storm strong enough to destroy the magnetic field of their planet, effectively causing the planet to slow down to a tidal lock. This means one side is endless day and the other is endless night. This would destroy the planet's civillizations and cause them to live underground for survival.
The Odyvian's global military went to Novary, a neighboring planet whose technology was more advanced than theirs, to borrow their knowledge in geotechnology to save their planet. However, the Novarians refused because they were already in debt. It causes the militaristic society to react so poorly that they invaded the planet, killing the majority of their people. Only a select few Novarians were able to escape their conquest, and now reside on Earth. The Odyvians found out about this and now plan to invade our planet to destroy the last of the Novarian society..
Climate[]
Before the exoplanet became tidally locked, Odvyia's climate was very similar to Earth's, and even had seasons. However, its seasons had a more extreme effect because of the planet's 41.2 degree tilt, unlike our planet's 23.4 degree tilt. The planet was divided into 2 hemispheres; the north hemisphere and the south hemisphere. The north hemisphere had colder and drier climates, while the south hemisphere was hotter and more moist.
Since the exoplanet became tidally locked, however, Odyvia's climate became considerably worse. Because that the planet doesn't rotate on its axis anymore, one side is perpetual day and one side is eternal night. This prolonged period would cause both sides' climates to worsen over time. The "day" side got even hotter and the "night" side got even colder. The aliens weren't able to adapt fast enough to this sudden climate change and had to retreat underground, or in the "twilight zone", which is a thin strip between day and night where it's eternally twilight; it's scary, but it's warm enough to support life.
Significant Populations[]
Odyvians are the only animal species that live on Odyvia. Because of their dominance, the other species that used to live on this planet were all driven to extinction or were exported to different civilizations. According to the Kardashev scale, the Odyvian population is a Type I Civilization.
