Valuable feathers said to have come from the Ancient Elemental Beast Saranyu, Meteor Plumes could very well just be clever forgeries, instead. Nobody knows for sure, since no one has, as of yet, met Saranyu in person, and no one is willing to admit if the Plumes are fakes.
History[]
Myth[]
It is said that those who manage to find the hidden home of Saranyu and present themselves to be honorable and kind will be rewarded with one of these valuable and beautiful feathers. However, as no one has ever been able to find her nesting grounds so far, this is, as of now, considered to be only a myth.
Controversy[]
Apparently, this myth circulated enough for some people to begin claiming that they owned some of these valuable feathers themselves, even willingly showing them of to the public. Feelings were conflicted; some people believed that these feathers were the real deal, while others felt they were nothing but forgeries made to grab attention.
Black Market Meteor Plumes[]
A while after these claims began to pop up, Meteor Plumes began to appear on the black market, fetching high prices due to their supposedly remarkable value. Immediately, frequent black market shoppers clamored to own a beautiful Meteor Plume for themselves, and demand for them grew.
Description[]
Meteor Plumes are beautiful and ornate feathers of orange, red and gold that seem to shift in shade and intensity like fire. They are generally a foot in length, with a centimeter thick quill. They constantly emit a faint, white smoke, and are warm to the touch.
Properties[]
Whether or not Meteor Plumes are fake, there is no denying that they carry some magical properties to them. They bear the natural sub-alignments of both Fire and Wind, and can magnify the Fire and Wind techniques of their owner by about 20%, making them a type of Elemental Enhancement item.
It can easily be assumed that Meteor Plumes that came directly from Saranyu are far more powerful than the ones on the black market, to the point where they are a near-divine item. However, as there is too much debate surrounding the legitimacy of Meteor Plumes, this is unconfirmed; the ones directly from Saranyu could very well be the ones we see today.
Known Owners[]
