Melter the Jerboa (メルター・ザ ・トビネズミ Merutā za Tobinezumi) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series as portrayed by AZURE. He is an anthropomorphic jerboa/Solcarion hybrid and the long-standing guardian of the Sol Dimension's Emerald of Enlightenment. He was born as a result of a ferocious typhoon caused by an unknown dormant entity interfering with the nearly complete development of a perfect wind genie. Following the incident, the identity of said god was split in two, and he was brought to life alongside Fey.
Being regarded as an accidental byproduct, he was intended to be disposed of. However, soon after their birth, it was realized by their creators that Melter had consumed most of the life energy and strength originally meant for his sister alone to inherit, leaving her much frailer by comparison and semi-dependent on him to stay alive.
He was assigned as her bodyguard early on and grew dedicated to that position as time continued, though was still met with hostility by his superiors. Believing just as strongly that his existence was what caused Fey's unfortunate state, he'd dedicated his life's purpose to defending her at all costs.
