Marsha the Fox is a video game for the Nintendo Switch. It's the first installment of the Marsha the Fox series.

Story[]

Not much is known about Marsha the Fox's story. The only thing that is known is that the player plays as Marsha, a loyal Freedom Fighter who is on a quest to stop Dark Princess, who was the Ixis Empress from the Forgotten Wars, from her plans of world domination.

Gameplay[]

Marsha the Fox plays like a traditional Sonic game. The players must collect rings that are scattered throughout the levels in order to not lose a life when injured via enemy or obstacle. The only point where this won't work is when Marsha falls downs a pit, gets crushed, drowns or runs out of time. If the player gathers 100 rings at one time, they earn an extra life and if the player has 50 rings on hand when they reach the goal, they can access the Special Zone to retrieve the Chaos Emerald for that zone.

Item Capsules are available for some special protection for Marsha (such as invincibility, shield, an extra life or rings of varying amount). Lamp posts are used as checkpoints so if the player loses a life but doesn't get a game over, the player can pick up at the checkpoint rather than restart the level.

The game has 7 zones in total with 5 levels for each, with the first being traditional levels and the last one being a boss fight. The final level doesn't belong to any of the 7 zones and is the final boss fight.

Zones[]

  1. Royal Hills Zone
  2. Yellow Desert Zone
  3. Ice Cap Zone
  4. Labyrinth Zone
  5. Red Rock Zone
  6. Cashino Park
  7. Scrap Brain Zone

Special Zones[]

If Marsha has 50 rings on hand when she reaches the goal, the path to the Special will be zone. Much like the Sonic Rush special zones, Marsha has to collect a certain amount of rings and hit the least amount of bombs as possible to receive a Chaos Emerald. For each of the 7 zones, each special zone is harder than the last.

Items and Power-Ups[]

  • Ring: Rings act like Marsha's health bar. As long as Marsha has rings on head. She can't lose a life if she hits a hazardous obstacle (an enemy or spikes). Rings do not protect her, however, from being crushed, drowning, running out of time or falling into a bottomless pit. Marsha can receive an extra life by collecting 100 rings without dropping them.
  • Item Capsule: The capsules are scattered throughout levels and contain one of the following power-ups
    • Super Ring - Amount of rings varies.
    • Shield - Protects Marsha from one hit without losing her rings
    • Speed Boosts - Increases her speed
    • One-Up - Gives Marsha an extra life
    • Invincible - Makes her invulnerable to enemies and spikes
  • Spring: This launches Marsha into the air when she jumps onto it.
  • Spikes: They usually appear as a set of three and either are out in the open or pop up and down.
  • Air Bubbles: Appearing in only water levels and help Marsha stay alive while in the water and extend the time she can stay in the water.
  • Goal Ring: At the end at the first 4 levels of each zone. Touch this ring to end the stage.

Bosses[]

For the 5th level of each Zone (except for Cashino Park and Scrap Brain Zone), Marsha fights Dark Princess as the boss. For each boss, a new strategy is needed to defeat Dark Princess.

  1. Dark Princess #1 (Royal Hills Zone)
  2. Dark Princess #2 (Yellow Desert Zone)
  3. Dark Princess #3 (Ice Cap Zone)
  4. Dark Princess #4 (Labyrinth Zone)
  5. Dark Princess #5 (Red Rock Zone)
  6. The Destructix (Cashino Park)
  7. Egg Beater (Scrap Brain Zone)
  8. Dark Princess #6 (Game's End)
