History

Since the inception of The Underground with the creation of Russkaja-Energia Town, there was the need for public transport. Enter Lokaalijn, a company formed in late 1925 to provide local public transport in Russkaja-Energia Town by the means of trams and electric buses, however, during the rapid expansion of The Underground in the 1930's, an urgent need for interurban and intercity transport arose. Enter Marrelson Intercity Norrsiton-Kaja Transport, later abbreviated to MINK Transport, a company formed in early 1933 with the purpose of providing intercity and interurban railway services. It's first line, the Marrelson Line, ran from Norrsiton-Kaja, a suburb of Russkaja-Energia Town, to Marrelson via Russkaja-Energia Town. Later, more interurban services were added under the brand of M-Link and (operated as a joint venture between Lokaalijn and MINK) S-Rail. Lokaalijn provided local public transport in the emerging cities, however it was losing money. MINK stepped in and bought out Lokaalijn, transforming it into the MINK Local division and abolishing the S-Rail brand, turning all S-Rail services into M-Link services.
