Kinoko (referred to as the Mushroom World by the Mobians) is a location in the AngieYaz/RoseOfSharon reboot of the Sonic Underground television series. It is the name of a planet containing the eight countries where Mario and his friends live. It is the setting of many games in the Mario series and sub-series.

Description

MushroomWorld

Planet Kinoko.

The Mushroom Kingdom, Star Haven, as well as all the lands are featured in Super Mario Bros. 3, are all a part of the Mushroom World. As such, other lands that are associated with the Mushroom Kingdom also exist on Mushroom World, such as the Beanbean Kingdom, Sarasaland, Dinosaur Land, and Yoshi Island. In addition, places in the Donkey Kong series such as the DK Isles or Crocodile Isle or in the WarioWare series (Diamond City) are located on Mushroom World in the games but are located on Mobius in the Sonic Underground reboot. The real-world reason is because several characters appear in the mainstream Mario series.

Kinoko, for many years, was once a rival to Mobius and many battles occurred between the two before Sonic and his siblings were born.

Fire Flowers and Energy Mushrooms (both green and red varieties) are grown and cultivated here primarily, but they can also be found on Mobius as well.

In the Videogame solar system, Mushroom World is orbited by a vast chain of small planetoids. Mario appears to be able to breathe normally despite the lack of oxygen, though in others he cannot. This is explained by the presence of the Luma in his cap.

The Mushroom World also consists of the many areas and levels from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars starting from Mario's house.

Locations

There are lands associated with the Mushroom Kingdom and thus the greater Mushroom World in alphabetical order. Here are just some of the locations.

  • Amazon Jungle
  • Aqua Land
  • Beanbean Kingdom - The Mushroom Kingdom's closest neighbor, famous for the preparation of delicious chili.
  • Boo Forest - A dark, spooky, haunted woods and the location of Luigi's mansion.
  • Koopa Kingdom - A cultured kingdom formerly controlled by King Bowser before his marriage to his wife Peach
  • Cap Kingdom - A misty dark kingdom inhabited by Bonneters, a race of people that are excellent haberdashers
  • Diamond City
  • Dinosaur Land, which includes Yoshi's Island Continent that is home to the Yoshis.
  • Sarasaland – A neighboring land of the Mushroom Kingdom ruled by Princess Daisy.

Trivia

  • "Kinoko" is Japanese for mushroom.
    • The currency of Kinoko, called simply "Coins", is made of gold commonly mined on planet Mobius.
  • The wars that were fought between the planets of Kinoko and Mobius are a reference to Nintendo and SEGA (the real-life home corporations of Mario and Sonic) being brutal business rivals in the 1990s. (SEGA constantly mocked Nintendo's works.) After much corporate and monetary warfare, their rivalry finally ended in late 2001.
