Ginger The Polar Bear (ホッキョクグマのジンジャー, Hokkyokuguma no jinjā^?, born 1 July) is one of ChaosControl VA's Sonic OCs. In an alternate universe, she is the current girlfriend to Berri The Rabbit.

Appearance

Ginger is a slim cream-furred anthropomorphic polar bear with light blue eyes and white skin covering her muzzle and inner ears. She has a small black nose and circular ears on top of her head. She also has one thick medium-length eyelash on each side of her eyes, and a short puffy tail. Her hair is wavy and puffy, being slightly unkept and uncombed with a puffy side bang, a large mass of puffy hair in the back of her head, long braids on the sides of her head that extend down to her chest, and a small ahoge that is sticking out from between her ears.

For attire, Ginger wears a black neckband, a light blue strapless dress with a white hemline, a dark blue strap belt, white gloves with light blue ring bands, and light blue flat shoes with dark blue soles.

Personality

Despite her backstory, Ginger is just about one of the sweetest people out there. She tries to be kind and respectful to anyone and everyone around her, while still drawing the line with absolute (out-right) villains. She is very supportive and considerate towards those she loves as well, determined to remain loyal to them; this makes her not only a faithful friend, but a faithful lover as well.

Now because of her past, however, Ginger is a very fearful person, despite her cherry exterior. Due to the loss of her family at such a young age, she has become fearful of losing everyone else that she cares about. So when Berri or any other member of Team Spectrum goes out on a mission, waiting for them to return is stressful, especially with the lingering thought that they might never come back; despite her friends having always returned safely from missions, her fears still persist.

In terms of her love life, she just wants to be left alone to her own devices. She's not a fan of the political activists who want to use her and her lovers to push their political agendas; she generally doesn't like to be told whose side she's supposed to be on. Despite this reservedness, she still respects and defends children from those same agendas (thanks to her own childhood innocence being shattered when she lost her family), making sure that they do not learn about her kind of love (or any kind, for that matter) until they are of age.

Berri met Ginger during a violent confrontation with one of her suitors. Being the considerate and compassionate person she is, Berri quickly came to Ginger's aid and fought off the attacker, which Ginger was grateful for. Berri continued showing her kindness to Ginger by bringing her into Team Spectrum's fold, where Spectrum would offer to let Ginger live with him for the time being. Afterwards, Ginger would quickly become good friends with the entire friend group and especially with Berri, growing very attached to her after she saved her life. Berri didn't mind this, quickly becoming best friends with her too.

Whenever she would return from a mission, however, Berri would begin to notice Ginger's anxiety caused by the fears she has over losing her loved ones, all thanks to her traumatic past (Berri, however, would not learn her exact fears and the reasons behind them at first). This would cause some divisive tension between the two of them for a bit until Berri eventually figured out what Ginger was exactly nervous about. Berri would then confront her on it and comfort her, telling her that she won't be alone anymore and that she'll be there for her no matter what, which Ginger appreciated greatly. Eventually, Ginger would come to learn of the sorrow that Berri occasionally still feels from when Eggman brainwashed Cream. Ginger eventually confronted Berri about it and comforted her too, letting her know that she's willing to support Berri through her own trauma and her resulting crusade, just like how Berri was there to support her; all of which Berri greatly appreciated too. The support and consideration for each other helped deepen their relationship to that of a close friendship, and eventually (after learning to appreciate other aspects about each other over time too), that closeness would give way to mutual romantic feelings. Initially, both Berri and Ginger were not confident about confessing their feelings to the other, out of fear of what the other might think and how this could possibly ruin their friendship. Eventually though, they would both muster up the courage to finally confess to each other, and they would quickly start dating afterward (all while not making a big deal out of it).

Spectrum The Hedgehog

Due to Ginger bunking with Spectrum, and due to the fact that she's his sidekick's girlfriend, Spectrum and Ginger spend quite a bit of time together. So much so that now they consider each other to be good friends. Of course, Ginger is fearful of Spectrum not returning from missions, but whenever she gets like this (much like Berri), Spectrum tries to put her mind at ease. He understands how much Ginger cares for Berri (and vice versa), so he tries not to get in-between them; which means he tries to keep confiding in each other to a minimum while she's in a relationship with Berri, as to not take part in emotional cheating.

When at home with nothing much to do, Spectrum and Ginger like to play games and party out. Sometimes, Ginger even invites Spectrum on double dates with her and Berri. Needless to say, Spectrum and Ginger are pretty tight.

Millie and Ginger have become good friends ever since she and Berri first fell into her dimension, and their bond has only grown with every visit since. As such, the two will often share or teach each other stuff from their own worlds. Ginger, for example, has been trying to teach Millie how to properly dance (for whenever she and Charlotte go dancing), as Millie is such a klutz at dancing that she can even go as far as to cause nosebleeds whenever she trips (Berri also provides input on her dancing, of course, but Millie prefers Ginger's teaching over Berri's more straight-forward approach to teaching). Millie, on the other hand, has been teaching Ginger how to fight; of course, Millie doesn't want or feel it is necessary for Ginger to get violent, she merely wants her to defend herself. With that in mind, Millie had initially tried to teach her basic punches and kicks, as well as escaping the holds of any possible captors. While Millie initially didn't wish to push Ginger too far, their training has become much easier ever since Ginger was programmed by Lamia with martial arts, with it now consisting of Millie trying to help Ginger master her new skills rather than learning them from the beginning.

Charlotte The Mouse

Charlotte is very friendly with Ginger (just as much as she is with Berri, though she admittingly spends more time with Berri than she does with Ginger). Whenever Charlotte is with Ginger, they'll often times spend time cooking together; Ginger would even share recipes from her world with Charlotte and even teach Charlotte some of her own techniques. Other times, the two would simply talk about their love lives, specifically with how their partners are treating them and how they think their relationships will turn out. Whenever Millicent is training with Tails to be a better mechanic, Charlotte would often host and invite Ginger (and Berri) to her own tea parties, where they would talk about several things such as the lovely locations of Charlotte's world; when they don't take part in tea parties though, Charlotte would instead show-off her sword fighting skills for Ginger (and Berri).

Vi

Vi has an unreasonable crush on Berri, so any competition in-between him and her would need to be dissuaded, and Ginger was no exception. When she first came into the fold of Team Spectrum, not only was Vi originally not friendly towards her, but out-right mean to her whenever she would try to get close to Berri. This would continue until Berri eventually put a stop to it, putting Vi back in his place. After apologizing to Ginger, she would forgive him, and the two of them would grow to be good friends. Whenever Spectrum or the other Team Spectrum members were busy, Ginger and Vi would play together. For a time, most people would confuse Vi for Ginger's pet instead of Spectrum's companion.

Lamia The Constrictor

Out of most people, Ginger (along with Berri) is the most annoyed with Lamia and her tricks, with a big reason being that she messes with her (and Berri) the most out of anyone else that happens upon her. Not only is this due to Lamia's obsession, but also due to Lamia knowing her (and Berri's) reservedness in terms of her love life. Ginger (along with Berri) wanting to just live her life and not make her preferences a big issue, along with her (and Berri's) hatred towards Lamia's vendetta against the innocence of children, infuriates Lamia; all of this has caused Lamia put a personal target on her (and Berri), trying her hardest to convince her (and Berri) that she should be on her side (whether willingly or not). Beyond all of that, however, Ginger is the most defenseless member of Spectrum's friend group. So whenever Lamia can get Ginger alone (as well as whenever she gets more free time for more personal ventures), she'll often attempt to kidnap her and melt her mind away with her powers, using her as an easy way to fuel her power addiction (which has actually gotten harder now thanks to the abilities she unwittingly programmed into Ginger beforehand); in fact, due to Lamia having obsessively encountered and hypnotized Ginger (and Berri) so many times, Ginger (and Berri) could now entrance herself just by thinking about Lamia normally, even if she isn't actually around.
