Mona the Mink
Mona was Elly's best friend until her death in Unrest in Sakoku. The two met by chance, as they were both looking for treasure in the same place. They decided to work together in order to find Yama's Golden Beetle, which turned out to be a piece of art painted with gold. The two had an odd relationship; as Mona was a thief, she indirectly sold stolen treasures to Elly, giving her really good deals for the loot. As such, Mona saw Elly partly as a way to exchange her stolen goods for cash. However, she did genuinely care for the dragon...

The two used to have a master-servant relationship, Asmer treating the dragon like a personal pet. He gave her security and some semblance of routine happiness, but was really only using the dragon to keep himself in check. He had a sick desire to make Elly into his subservient disciple that would represent him favorably to the rest of the world. Asmer cared about Elly a great deal under all the abuse, however. The two are now separated, but Asmer awaits the day where he can reunite with her... taking her back by force, if necessary.
