"He's quite fast for a whole mental hospital in a single body." - Devoid enjoying one of his past times, mocking his enemies.

Devoid Sonic (often just called Devoid) is one of the main characters of the Chaos Ball Productions stories and was created by 0Devoid, debuting in the 23rd Chapter of "Dragon Ball M: The Humble Beginnings", "AN UNWORLDLY HEDGEHOG!" and making subsequent appearances in the sequel "Dragon Ball M 2: The Battle For Time & Space" as well as the short story "The Hunt For A Super Famicom", "Welcome To The Neighbourhood", & "The Unreliable's Light" In the latter, he serves as the Strategic Operations Officer aboard the titular ship.

Background[]

Devoid Old

Devoid, as seen in "STH Project 18"

Designed in 2018, Devoid Sonic was intended to be the secondary antagonist in the cancelled comic "STH Project 18". However, this was later changed when the story transitioned to literary format and became "S+D: A Chaos Ball Story" where he became the secondary protagonist, however, this story would then get cancelled due to lack of passion. The name Devoid came because the creator thought the word sounded cool, plus when he found out the meaning later on, it came to mean on how, despite being based upon Sonic, the Blue Blur's personality & abilities are missing. Later on, when thinking of a voice for him, the creator thought of Sylvester McCoy, the man who played the 7th Doctor from Doctor Who. Not only was McCoy Scottish, which made Devoid Scottish, but he also played a serious, dark character in that role, which allowed the creator to see how he would be the voice for Devoid. Devoid had later gained friends in his stories, the most recent of which being Sally Sillington, a rubberhose cartoon princess who strayed away for adventure and Amir, a hedgehog like Devoid.

Physical Appearance[]

Devoid is a short hedgehog, with only 3' 5" to his name. He has blue fur, but peach fur on his arms, in his ears, on his torso and around his mouth. He has Super Sonic-esque quills, except the top one slumps back due to gravity. His eyes are purple, with no visible pupil.

In his first 2 appearances & "Welcome To The Neighbourhood", Devoid wore a brown jacket with silver lining, a white dress shirt with an open collar, jeans and black converse trainers with white socks. In "The Unreliable's Light", Devoid wears a 2 tone blazer, one side with a yellow-orange color, the other side with a purple-blue color. This is due to the original jacket being destroyed in the climax of "Welcome To The Neighbourhood". A silver Starfleet combadge of the era is added after the events of "Mirror Leakage".

Personality[]

Devoid & Sally posing in front of some mountains.

Devoid is often very chill, unless provoked. This is shown when he has no issue having his friends Sally (no relation to Sally Acorn) and Amir use his TARDIS when he's asleep, as long as they let him know. If up against someone he doesn't like, he often holds back his anger by insulting his enemy, which allows him to gain the upper hand more often than not. Devoid will sometimes talk to himself in order to provide company when alone, as he hates loneliness. Devoid is also said to be helpful when needed, often helping others in shops if he comes across someone who seems confused.

History[]

Pre-Stories[]

Devoid was born in 2530 due to an anomaly mixing a powerful gem and some Mobian Hedgehog DNA. During Devoid's teenage years, he got into a fight that left his arms severely scarred, leading to him constantly wearing jackets. In 2554, Devoid uncovered the truth about an organisation of 'heroes', in an attempt to stop them, he got afraid and ran away from his planet in his TARDIS. In 1948, in the kingdom of Rotoscope, Devoid prevents the kidnapping of Sally during an invasion, Sally follows along and ends up helping defeating the threat invading her kingdom. Afterwards, she joins Devoid on his travels.

Dragon Ball M: The Humble Beginnings[]

After his TARDIS has a rough forced landing, Devoid comes across the scientist Treya Kaminari, who talks to him about sub-universes. After stopping for a break, He, Treya and old friend Sally go to look for those sub-universes after building a wagon out of scrapped car pieces as well as a way to tow his TARDIS along.

Dragon Ball M 2: The Battle For Time & Space[]

As He, Treya & Sally stop at a gas station, they meet Seichi Unashi, who joins them to search for something that he doesn't specify. They abandon the wagon as it breaks down and use his TARDIS to get around instead. After crashing into Najira's head while landing, Devoid & crew arrive at Universe 7.5, when Devoid goes out to scout the area, he is attacked by Najira. This makes him soon evacuate into his TARDIS. He gets a call, but it's soon cut out, gaining no info. The team land on a desolate planet for a training break and it's around this time that Treya disappears. Afterwards, Devoid and his group meet the people who were calling him earlier, due to their similar goals, they team up to find out what's going on. However, this would soon be cut off as they would be thrusted into a battle with Oboro, a mind controlled Minora & a evil copy of Damian. Devoid didn't participate in the fight, as debris blocked the door to his TARDIS, which then got severely damaged by time distortions in the area.

In his wrecked TARDIS, Devoid is soon visited by Amir, who helps him fix the console up using scraps while Devoid reboots the power. However, Natas decided to mess with Devoid, pretending to be him in order to try and trick him. This failed and Devoid managed to get to the core to reboot it. Afterwards, Devoid feigns insanity to trick the fused Natas and Oboro, even triggering a false transformation in order to fool them while he goes to the Coral Console Room to plan his real attack. Once the fusion got to the archived console room, Devoid blasted them with Artron Energy, crumbing the body into stone as their souls escape. However, to not lose track of them, Devoid implants a sample of their blood into a tracking device.

Devoid manages to inform the people of where and when Natas & Oboro are, leading to The Time Nest Conflict. During this conflict, Devoid uses the Shift Changer, allowing him to become Go-On Void. He even sets his TARDIS to autopilot to ram through Oboro & Natas' minions. Later on, after blasting Oboro severely, Devoid uses the Chaos Emeralds to enhance his Go-Onger powers to become Super Go-On Void! However, this transformation ended when he was kicked hard by Oboro. Devoid later helped finish the fight by using Artron Cannons alongside Jay and Damian, killing the villains.

Devoid left after properly repairing his TARDIS, a month after the conflict.

Welcome To The Neighbourhood[]

Devoid & Sally landed at the mysterious neighbourhood, soon getting introduced to the residents. Whilst things seemed alright, mysterious clones began popping up, one of which being one of Wally Darling near Julie's house. Devoid aptly responded by using the Ranger Gun to shoot the clone. The two discussed this encounter with Frank and later Barnaby & the real Wally. A few days later, Devoid had to rescue Wally with the assistance of Eddie, which led to an investigation & training Wally to fight back. During a brief period of downtime, Devoid acted as an actor in one of Sally Starlet's plays, teamed up with Julie for a cooking competiton (where they didn't win) & provided a TV for a sleepover at Sally Starlet's house. During the final battle, Devoid fought with Wally against the Home Parasite. This led to his original jacket being destroyed & the defeat of the Home Parasite. Devoid did not help in the restoration of Wally's house (now parasite free) after the battle and instead offered Wally with a trip to the Fleet Museum, where they went on a tour of the Enterprise (NX-01). He later left with Sally Sillington soon after the restoration.

The Unreliable's Light[]

To be added when the story is complete.

Alternate Timelines[]

In 2366, Devoid landed alone on a desert planet, where he was found by the USS Odyssey.

4 years later, he was the first officer of the USS Valentine. He led an away mission to a Yakuza asteroid base, where his away team was beaten and they were encountered by Sarī, who offered to hand herself in. However, this was a ploy to kill the crew, which they mostly succeeded with 231 dead (including Captain Johnathan Castillo). After a repair period, the ship was sent out again under Devoid's command. (TUL: Blood Of The Yakuza)

Sentai Forms (+ Power Ups)[]

Devoid is one to have many Sentai Forms. He relies on them to power him up most of the time. Here are all the changers & forms he's used so far.

Aura Changer (Form Name Unknown) - Devoid is seen wearing a broken Aura Changer in his debut. He must've used it in the past, but not much is known

Shift Changer (Go-On Void)

As seen in "Dragon Ball M 2: The Battle For Time & Space". Devoid uses the Shift Changer to become Go-On Void in the final battle against Natas. During that battle, he upgrades it using the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Go-On Void. In this form, Devoid has access to the Go-Onger arsenal. Examples of which being the Mantan Gun in both Rod Mode & Gun Mode. Unlike most Go-Ongers, he doesn't have a number on his chest, but rather a silhouette of a TARDIS.

Dino Buckler (Devoranger)

As seen in "Welcome To The Neighbourhood", Devoid has the Dino Buckler to help him fight against the Home Parasite. It includes a special Dino Medal with Devoid's head silhouette on, which contains the powers of Devoranger. This form allows him to access the Zyuranger arsenal, such as the Ranger Gun.
