This page regards the featured article interview of July 2018 for the article Chronosabre. The interview was done in private on June 30, 2018. Skyblade743 was interviewed.

The Interview[]

|1=# Q1: Do you have any interests in spathology? It is no coincidence that your very own username contains the word “blade”.

A) Not especially. I just needed an item to unify the Guardians in a single purpose when I was making the backstory for Vendeta the Hedgehog, and I kinda thought “why not have a cool sword? And why not make it control time too?” Ironically, I have tried to stay away from making a “Skyblade” in my canon so it doesn’t get confusing when talking about me or the weapon, as has happened multiple times when talking about, for example, XophPsycho and Xophtré the Psychopath in the same sentence.

# Q2: What is the connection between its abilities and its name?

A) "Chrono" is a word commonly associated with time or clocks, and although I'm not really sure I believe it comes from the Greek god Cronos (also spelt Kronos occasionally) who was the father of Zeus. Obviously this links to the sword's time manipulation abilities. As for "sabre", a sabre is simply a kind of sword.

# Q3: Were there any inspirations in particular for making this sword?

A) As mentioned in the appearance section, the general design of the sword was based of the iconic Buster Sword used by Coud Strife in Final Fantasy VII (and Super Smash Bros, of course). Also, although I don't really remember off the top of my head, the addictive property of the sword was likely based on the One Ring in Lord of the Rings.

# Q4: Who would you say would be the most suitable artist from our wiki to draw Chronosabre as you’ve envisioned it?

A) ) That's a really good question. I would personally say either Timesmashaperil or CrimsonFlame2K seeing they've both drawn particularly cool sword in the past (the Silver Soul for the former and Bloody Rebel for the latter).

# Q5: What is the Chronosabre’s current state? Who possesses it and what do they plan to use it for?

A) The Chronosabre is currently being held in mid-air in the capital (albeit ruined) city of the planet Kryte, protected by several battered automated defences, a temperamental planetary shield and the last of it's Guardians, Vendeta the Hedgehog. Vendeta himself has no plans for the sword other than to keep it safe as the Guardians always have

# Q6: What were Kandalor’s true intentions for creating the sword?

A) Kandalor was annoyed at the laws of the Endless Gods that said they couldn't interfere with the physical world unless something massive turned up ("massive" generally being threats on the level of Solaris), so he decided to use a loophole and create an item to indirectly interfere with the physical world. Ultimately, his main objective was to go against the Laws of Godhood and toy with the physical world as much as possible, and this eventually led to his own personal war with the Gods that led to him being cast out. Whether he had any other intentions for the sword is unknown, although Kandalor was known for having plans within plans...

# Q7: What is the sword made of? Is it made out of Kandalor’s divine essence?

A) It's not really known what Kandalor made it out of: it's possible he simply made it out of a simple metal like iron or nickel. He then gave it it's time control power which has made it last for generations without even getting a hint of rust, thanks to his power as an Endless God, and this has made it impossible to interpret what the sword is made out of. It's most likely there were some holoprojectors of some kind in the blade due to the holographic clocks, but even that isn't certain due to how the sword shows a different time depending on the person.

# Q8: If Dr. Eggman ever got his hands on the Chronosabre, what do you think would happen?

A) He would likely try and replicate or siphon off it's power, trying to find a way around the sword's negative effects while keeping the positive ones. Of course, that is if he knows about the negative effects: he might just walk into Kryte and pick it up out of interest. In both scenarios, he would likely change time so he defeated Sonic early on and the Eggman Empire has been ruling Earth for years. And in the second scenario, the space-time continuum would likely collapse not long after.

# Q9: Aside from withdrawal effects, are there any other effects caused by the Chronosabre’s prolonged use, such as psychosis, anxiety or dementia?

A) Psychosis likely doesn't, although arguably if you can change time at a whim with the sword and you can't without it it likely causes psychosis in it's own way. Anxiety is a definite; the question of when you will use the sword again or if you ever will is likely going to be eating away at you for a while. As for dementia, probably not.

# Q10: What is your weapon of choice? What is your favourite type of sword?

A) Generally I'd prefer a weapon that's light, small and mobile, possibly like a shortsword or a dagger, maybe dual wielding weapons if at all possible. My favourite type of sword is the katana, simply because of it's sleek design and the lack of many real world swords that look especially similar.
