"Saving the world is not always fun and games."
—CLOUD-99, 1985

CLOUD-99 is the codename of British cyborg and superhero William Press (born 2 December, 1960). He is known as one of the greatest superheroes in the world and as the world's first cyborg. In 1989, he suffered from intense radiation burns during an attack on the Goroshima Nuclear Complex in Japan. The burns had manifested into a flesh-eating virus that had melted away most of his face.

This resulted in Press undergoing a secret cybernetic experiment known as "CLOUD" in the same year, making him one of the first cyborgs in the world. The surgery created a metallic "mask" covering Press' disfigured face, as well as physical augmentations to aid in combat. High-resolution cameras within his visors replaced the original eyes that he lost, and a gas mask for his mouth to allow him to breathe, even under suffocation. Press was believed to have died, because not even his wife could recognise him after the operation.

Press, now known as CLOUD-99, had served in the UK's Knights of the New Round Table since 1992, an organisation responsible for preventing and intercepting various terrorist attacks on the nation, as well as beginning the government's gradual transition into imperialism. When the group disbanded in 2013 following public fears of its members taking over the British Parliament, Press undertook a vigilante approach. To this day, nobody knows his true identity.

Concept and creation

CLOUD-99 was originally designed by German Sonic fan artist Teslarossa (also known as Alphonse Uprising on Wikia) on 2 December, 2017, to demonstrate the harsh realities of nuclear wars, imperialism, and governmental bioweapons.

History

In 1986, he suffered from intense radiation burns during an attack on the Goroshima Nuclear Complex in Japan. The burns had manifested into a flesh-eating virus that had melted away most of his face. This resulted in Press undergoing a secret cybernetic experiment known as "CLOUD" in 1991, making him one of the first cyborgs in the world.

Personality

No, I AM your father: CLOUD-99 has a booming and echoey voice, distorted by his gas mask and artificial larynx.

Powers and abilities

Weapon

The Queen is CLOUD-99's personal weapon, which is a combination of a blunt melee weapon and an assault rifle. The weapon is heavy, and has a black-yellow colour scheme.

The Queen fires hot, hard pellets of acid at an alarmingly fast rate; each pellet is shaped like a regular bullet.

Weaknesses

Tesla Hunt

Though unaware of his current status, CLOUD-99 serves as a major inspiration to Tesla Hunt.
