Hello everyone Memph here,
As noted by a lot of well reputed wikicitizens (Which makes me happy.) it has also been in my attention to address this situation as well as bringing up a brand new idea along the way.
First and foremost, the wiki as a whole. Where is it right now? Stagnant, where is everyone who is on the wiki? Either in chat or their own little skype group away from the wiki. While the chat and skype group is all well and dandy, there is a huge impact on the web site in terms of people not talking to each other on the main space and thus leaving the location barren. Even as I look, I see 10 people on the chat and yet there is no page moving edit to be noticed on the main space. Why is this a thing? While social recreation is great and not frowned upon, leaving the mainspace in such an abysmal state is. While it pains me to say so, we need to move for either a nix on the chat function to get people to be more social on the main space. Or to have a scheduled closing and opening time for the chat; IE 3pm-5pm chat is open and all is welcome and after that time the chat closes and talk pages will be open (Talk pages will remain open as they shall be the wiki's tool to socialize.) Albeit this is all an idea and thus open to modification and debate.
Secondly, the idea of affilition and advertisement for our website. While I am a bit hesitant to expand our borders due to the potential troll floodgates opening. I am also intrigued by the potential prospect that this will bring for the site. Albeit, if we do this, we will have to be on high alert for vandals and the sort because as I stated beforehand. We WILL be opening ourselves up to a lot more people and not every person has good intentions. I have already begun the process of talking with the spanish sonic site and will work on garnering affiliation with them. I apologize if it seems that I am doing this without discussing it with the wiki, but the offer was given and it would be rude to pass up another site's crat if our goal is to seem like an approuchable site. Gomen.
Lastly, this is a touch back to the first point. A majority of the users are using functions that are second party like skype and this goes for a good amount of admins as well (This goes for me as well since I lead a gaming team.) It is my hopes that to reign the admins and crats in with a very organized page that will make use of the message board or some open to the wiki tool that will act as a gathering hub for the admins and crats. This shall be formally known as,
"PROJECT Round Table"
It is my hopes that we will be able to gather admins and crats to discuss issues and also act as a main hub for citizens to voice their opinions. Now, I understand; We have our boards to handle wiki improvements and the sort. But the issue is, the boards are honed in on one issue and once discussed and closed are left there to take up space. It is my intention to make the round table an ever moving presence with ideas and issues flowing through them and looked upon to solidify a point and potentially move it to a voting space in a faster and smoother manner.
So, let me be clear and to the point
The Project shall serve 2 key points for the wiki,
One, as I mentioned before, the round table will act as an open hub for discussion. However it is to be a gathering spot for admins and crats to OPENLY discuss situations that are going about on the wiki and shall act as a fluid board that shall be constanly cleaned out after discussions are over. Wikicitizens are allowed to make edits on the board and put their input, but must be regarding the current situation. They are also allowed to bring up points for the admins and crats to look into, This means that if their is a situation that needs to be handled, it shall be handled due to how urgent it is. If you ask for your page to be reinstated, we will direct you to the correct location to put it and thus move on to the next point.
Two, This is the true intention of the Round Table: Affiliation. The round table will take into account potential affiliates and put it on the wiki for the users to check them out. The round table won't just be a gathering spot for our Wiki admins and crats. But shall allow for users to take a look into other wiki admins and crats! The reason I want to take this action is as stated before, for our users to broaden their horizon and meet new people who come from affar and not just this site. As well as acting as the main hub for cross-wiki poltics to unfold in the public eyes.
This idea came to me as I was working with the Spanish Sonic Wiki crat and it was a chore trying to find one solid space to discuss important wiki politics. Now then, sorry for taking your time. I hope you like the plan and will take the time to discuss this with me.
