I was going to hold back on this for as long as possible, but I can no longer stand for this. If no one will address this, I will in the only way I know how to.
Nothing lasts forever. The wiki is nearly ten years old, and to me, is waning very quickly at this rate. While I admit that I believe Leon was right, I don't believe that the fact that we're evidentally unwilling to make any progress as a community is the issue. I honestly believe that at this point, the community will do whatever it can to drown out the wiki's problems with banal vanity projects such as this.
Yes, that is a swipe at the wiki awards in general. No, I'm not afraid to admit it, and here is why I think that: it's the simple fact that we have do it every season, period. What better way to fellate ourselves than to host periodic awards four times a year, every year? I genuinely believe that the wiki awards should be an earned privilege, and I also believe that this is largely why much of the internet views us as a joke, because we're just that self-serving. It's honestly a little embarrassing, and maybe it's past time we at least consider that as being an answer for our unquestioned and unspoken woes.
Might I make a suggestion? Maybe skip the fall awards and tend to the wiki's needs so it doesn't flatline? Quite honestly, I like this suggestion. Who's with me?
