Now that the chat policy has been officially passed, I would like to bring this suggestion to the table. As some of you may or may not know, when SolariusFlare was still a chat moderator, he enforced a "Three Strike Rule" to keep the chat in order. I've been wanting to reinstate this rule for quite awhile now, even before I became a moderator myself.
First and foremost, this system is completely optional. Any staff, moderators and admins alike, is free to use the system, but is not required to.
Much like how it previously functioned, users will receive strikes for breaking rules depending on the circumstances. Also like before, scratches will be recorded here (Which Gamedezyner was kind enough to make, so thanks goes to him) for reference. Evidence (a link to a chat log or a screenshot are considered valid evidence) must be provided when giving out strikes. Only moderators and admins will be allowed to edit this page. Anyone else that is caught editing the information on the page will possibly face punishment.
Unlike the previous version, users who currently have strikes can have them cleared by not getting anymore strikes and staying out of trouble for a set period of time (3 weeks if you have 1 strike, 1 month if you have 2 strikes). Strikes can only be cleared by the moderator that gave out the most recent strike. In the case that the moderator is currently or permanently unavailable, another moderator may remove the strikes instead, but is not required to.
And lastly, when a user receives his/her third strike, a ban will be given out depending on the severity of the third violation. Once a user receives their third strike, they can no longer be removed. The next violation will result in a more severe ban, the one after that results in an even more severe ban, and so on.
Please post your thoughts and suggestions on this.
(Credit goes out to SolariusFlare for originally coming up with the system in the first place.)
