The Interview[]
Q1) Why do you think users picked Blue Blur as their most beloved page? What do you think they like most about the series and what is your response to this?
A1. I believe it's mainly due to the idea of combining as much of the elements from different official continuities as possible, whether from the games, comic books and/or tv shows. I later thought that this idea wouldn't work, but apparently, I must've been proven wrong. Either way, I'm glad people enjoyed my idea.
Q2) Can you give us a brief summary of what Blue Blur is all about?
A2. It's a combination of fantasy and science-fiction, and sort-of a "reboot" to the Sonic the Hedgehog series, mainly due to the official games needing a reboot but never getting one. It retells the story of Sonic and the group of freedom fighters rebelling against Dr. Robotnik and his fascist regime in order to liberate Mobius and restore it to it's former routes before Robotnik took it over. It's the whole "nature vs. technology" stick, just like the classic games and the SatAM cartoon.
Q3) What was your greatest influence in creating Blue Blur?
A3. The Sonic Freedom Fighters series by bloodrunsclear. His videos on Youtube shows the kind of tone Blue Blur is greatly influenced by, only my story combines a few more fantasy-related aspects, like Gods, legendary gemstones, trippy special stages and whatnot.
Q4) Why did you choose Cosmo as one of the female protagonists?
A4. Well, for one, since Tails was developed as an antagonist turned protagonist, Sonic kinda needed another sidekick to fill that void. Second, Cosmo was one of the more interesting characters introduced to the franchise. Her story ark in the third season of Sonic X was probably the highlight of the otherwise mediocre show, and I was hoping one day that Sega might introduce her in the games. So, I decided to introduce her in Blue Blur, alongside the Seedrian species and their alliance with the Mobians.
Q5) How do you envision the world Blue Blur takes place in?
A5. Mobius, in Blue Blur, is a different planet. Earth and Mobius are light-years apart, in order to appeal to both the fans of the games and the Archie Comics/SatAM. Alongside that, the story takes place in the distant future, hence the more technologically-advanced robots, weapons and machinery.
Q6) What are some of the themes of Blue Blur?
A6. Like I said, it's the whole "nature vs. technology" theme that the classic games, especially Sonic 1, were best known for. Of course, Mobians do use technology, but they respect the beauty of Mobius' nature, whereas Robotnik wants to turn everything and everyone into machinery, blinded into thinking it would bring peace to the entire universe.
Q7) What other characters do you plan to include in the saga?
A7. Characters like Blaze the Cat, Marine the Racoon, a parallel version of Silver, and Eggman Nega (who would be called Robotnik Nega) are ideas I have in mind. I sort-of envisioned them being in a different universe called Moebius, a world where Sonic was killed by Tails (who was still aligned with Robotnik in that dimension), and Tails took the mantle as the leader of the Robotnik Empire, thus becoming Robotnik Nega.
Q8) Give us a brief description of what happens in Shadow of the ARK.
A8 . It's an adaptation of the game Sonic Adventure 2. In there, Robotnik liberated the Ultimate Lifeform known as Shadow, who plans to seek revenge against the Mobians for killing Maria Kintobor. In order to do that, he wanted to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds and power up Gerald's space station, the A.R.K. (Ambitious Researchers of Kintobor). When Sonic was alerted to this, he plans on stopping Shadow and Robotnik from achieving their devious goals. Of course, there's a little more than that, but I'll probably add to it later.
Q9) Without revealing many spoilers, what will happen in the final season and final episode of Blue Blur? Will there be any epic confrontation between the forces of good and evil?
A9. Yes. In the final season, Robotnik discovered a powerful and dangerous gemstone known as the Phantom Ruby. He ended up forcing (no pun intended) the gemstone to Tails after he kidnapped him, turning him into Infinite. As the world started to crumble under Infinite's illusions, it's all up to Sonic to stop him. Just one problem... How can he stop him now with a missing leg?
Q10) What are your plans on Blue Blur? Are you planning on making a video game or a sequel to the series?
A10. I plan on redoing everything from scratch. I know my work has been nominated twice and was featured, but I sorta feel like it has a lot of problems going for, which I plan to address. It will still have the same characters and themes, but it will have some differences from what it used to be like.
