Description[]

A slightly larger than average scimitar, the Black Crescent earned it's name through the black steel used to create the blade. The weapon itself is not very advanced, although due to it's origins believed to be during the Mobian Dark Ages, when the Demon and Celestials were sealed away into a wide variety of items and the Technomage spread throughout new universes to survive, this is understandable. Aside from the black metal used to construct the blade itself, the hilt uses a liberal amount of gold on the handguard and the dark gray binding on the hilt.

As with most notable weapons from this era, the sword doubles as a transformation source, with black armor similar to the golden Excalibur armor carried by the blade. This armor was created by the former knight Warren the Hedgefox, who worked mostly as a corsair for the early equivalent of Mercia, where he worked alongside the wielder of Excalibur on a few occasions, hunting down renegade Demons and Celestials in order to seal them within whatever container the Mobians wished to seal them into. However, after Warren's death, the sword was believed lost, and over the years was shunted back into legend. However, this blade was uncovered inside an old ruined castle in the Dragon Kingdom by Manic the Hedgehog. The same young man defeated the challenge that the blade "guardian" presented him with using Excalibur, resulting in his acquisition of a second legendary blade.

Native Abilities[]

The sword, when used by a fighter who has unlocked it's full potential, is capable of generating a Dark Knight transformation when activated in a certain pattern. As one of the ancient Crescent Blades, the sword is imbued with the element its colour resembles, which is darkness.

To make things even more interesting, the sword is quite well known for it's seals, which can be learned by Darkness-wielders through training with the blade. These seals were designed to assist the blade in it's primary use, to hunt down renegade Demons and Celestials. As such, any high-powered Mobian as well as Demons, Celestials and even transformations are vulnerable to the Dark-elemental seals unless they have some form of Light manipulation. However, in the hands of a Darkness wielder, the light-weakness can become a strength, increasing the power of the binding darkness with the more light the expel, and the only way they could be released is if an ally breaks the seal.

Known Wielders[]

  • Warren the Hedgefox - The man believed to be the original wielder. Warren was a knight in the reasonably young Mercian Kingdom under the wielder of Excalibur, King Arthur. However, for reasons unknown, he left that post and took on the role of a corsair, raiding and attacking the merchant ships operated during these dark ages by the enemies of Mercia. At the same time, during his lifespan, small numbers of Demons and Celestials would emerge into the world by escaping their prisons or leaving the places they had hidden. Alongside the king, Warren was one of the main fighters recapturing these escapees, thanks to the sealing techniques his sword could generate.
  • Manic the Hedgehog - The second known wielder, although it is believed that others have used the blade in the millennia between the Dark Ages and the modern day. Manic found the scimitar in an old, run-down castle while fighting Col'nesian mercenaries in the area. After being challenged with a variety of dangerous challenges, he encountered a Chaos Phantom of a being who challenged him to best the sword in use. This Phantom is believed to have been part of Warren's spirit, although due to the fact that this was in the armor generated by the transformation, this may well be false and another hedgehog spirit was the guardian. Manic already possessed a legendary sword, the blade Excalibur, which he employed to great effect in the ensuring duel, the natural Light-connection of the hand-and-a-half blade giving him the extra edge over the ghost. Manic understands that he cannot achieve the full power of the blade because he is not a Darkness-wielder, but is unwilling to surrender the blade to just anyone, they have to earn it the way he did.
