Berri the Rabbit (ベリー・ザ・ラビット Berī za rabitto?, born 1 July) is one of ChaosControl VA's Sonic OCs. In an alternate universe,[8] she is the sidekick and best friend to Spectrum The Hedgehog, as well as the sister to Vanilla The Rabbit and the aunt to Cream The Rabbit.

Appearance[]

Berri is a slim cream-furred anthropomorphic rabbit with light blue eyes, and white fur that covers her muzzle and the insides of her ears. She has a small black nose, long ears that stick upwards with pink markings at the end of them, pink hair on top of her head that's in an 80's bob style, and a short fluffy tail that sticks out of her shorts, though it is not always visible. She also has two long eyelashes on each side of her eyes.

For attire, Berri wears a black neckband, a fuchsia tube top with a white brim, fuchsia fingerless gloves with puce cuffs, a puce belt with a pouch that has silver buckles and buttons, fuchsia shorts with puce brims, white long stockings, fuchsia boots with puce brims and soles.

Personality[]

Much like the rest of her family (Vanilla and Cream), Berri is kind and sweet soul. She constantly tries to help people out and be considerate towards everyone. Aside from all of that, however, Berri also has a spunky side, which she has gained from living in a country household most of her life. She tends to mix her spunkiness with her sweetness/kindness, often times becoming more loud and bombastic with her encouragement. Also thanks to that spunkiness, Berri can also be straightforward at times, as well as very confident; Berri's basically the kind of person who would teach you how to swim by immediately pushing you into the pool. Her confidence and bombastic nature gives her an energetic edge during fights, giving her a true taste for it; beyond that though, this can make her a true party animal too.

In terms of her love life, she just wants to be left alone to her own devices. She's not a fan of the political activists who want to use her and her lovers to push their political agendas; she generally doesn't like to be told whose side she's supposed to be on. Despite this reservedness, she still respects and defends children from those same agendas with a fiery passion (thanks to her experience with Cream being brainwashed),[9] making sure that they do not learn about her kind of love (or any kind, for that matter) until they are of age.

Vanilla The Rabbit[]

Vanilla and Berri were close siblings as children, which hasn't changed much now that they're adults. In fact, in-between missions with Spectrum, Berri tries to visit her and Cream whenever she can, barely containing her excitement to see her sister and her niece. Whenever Berri visits, and whenever Cream isn't holding her attention, Berri and Vanilla get into deep conversation. Aside from their sisterly love for each other, Vanilla does like to tease Berri with her older sister energy, to which Berri finds humorous. In fact, Berri has such respect for Vanilla (along with good moral convictions) that she in fact keeps her love life away from Cream, and intends to do so until she's at an age where she can fully understand; to which Vanilla greatly appreciates.

Cream The Rabbit[]

Much like Amy Rose,[11] Cream looks up to her aunt, with Berri herself adoring her niece, being more protective of her after she was brainwashed by Eggman.[9][12] In-between missions with Spectrum, she tries to visit her and Vanilla whenever she can, barely containing her excitement to see her sister and her niece. Whenever Berri visits, and whenever Vanilla isn't holding her attention, Berri mostly plays with Cream; which Vanilla adores. Due to Berri's moral convictions resulting from Eggman brainwashing Cream,[4][9][12] and the respect she has for her sister Vanilla, she does keep her love life away from Cream, and intends to do so until she's at an age where she can fully understand; to which Vanilla greatly appreciates.

Robotomized Cream[]

Out of everyone who was traumatized by Cream's transformation, her aunt Berri was one of the people who were hit the hardest by it. However, she did her best to keep her feelings to herself. Berri understood that seeing her start to lose hope wouldn't help with how the other prisoners on the Death Egg were doing the same, so she tried to push her feelings about Cream's condition down to help motivate her cellmates. Despite this, experiencing her niece being corrupted still rocked Berri to her core, with her becoming more protective of Cream[13] and then resolving to protect other children from suffering a similar fate.[4] Berri's heart would continue break during further encounters with Robotomized Cream, but she was still determined to save her niece, a conviction which led her to join Team Spectrum for their rescue mission. Needless to say, after Cream was revived, Berri was relieved that her niece was back to normal, but her new convictions that this experience caused still remained.[4]

Ginger The Polar Bear[]

Berri met Ginger during a violent confrontation with one of her suitors.[14] Being the considerate and compassionate person she is,[4] Berri quickly came to Ginger's aid and fought off the attacker, which Ginger was grateful for.[14] Berri continued showing her kindness to Ginger by bringing her into Team Spectrum's fold, where Spectrum would offer to let Ginger live with him for the time being.[14][15] Afterwards, Ginger would quickly become good friends with the entire friend group and especially with Berri, growing very attached to her after she saved her life.[14] Berri didn't mind this, quickly becoming best friends with her too.

Whenever she would return from a mission, however, Berri would begin to notice Ginger's anxiety caused by the fears she has over losing her loved ones,[16] all thanks to her traumatic past[14] (Berri, however, would not learn her exact fears and the reasons behind them at first). This would cause some divisive tension between the two of them for a bit until Berri eventually figured out what Ginger was exactly nervous about. Berri would then confront her on it and comfort her, telling her that she won't be alone anymore and that she'll be there for her no matter what, which Ginger appreciated greatly. Eventually, Ginger would come to learn of the sorrow that Berri occasionally still feels from when Eggman brainwashed Cream.[9] Ginger eventually confronted Berri about it and comforted her too, letting her know that she's willing to support Berri through her own trauma and her resulting crusade,[4] just like how Berri was there to support her; all of which Berri greatly appreciated too. The support and consideration for each other helped deepen their relationship to that of a close friendship, and eventually (after learning to appreciate other aspects about each other over time too), that closeness would give way to mutual romantic feelings. Initially, both Berri and Ginger were not confident about confessing their feelings to the other, out of fear of what the other might think and how this could possibly ruin their friendship. Eventually though, they both would muster up the courage to finally confess to each other, and they would quickly start dating afterward[17] (all while not making a big deal out of it).[4][16]

Spectrum and Berri have been friends since childhood, and their bond has only strengthened over time. Even when being held on the Death Egg, Berri had faith that Spectrum would survive and find her again. As Spectrum would become more adventurous, Berri would always tag along with him and never leave his side. She was even willing to be referred to as Spectrum's "sidekick" just as long as she could help her friend.

Vi is Spectrum's main partner besides Berri, but the two are actually not hostile towards each other over that (over splitting Spectrum's attention). In fact, the two are quite chill with each other, with both of them working well together and with both of them actually being good friends; Vi even has a bit of a forbidden love-style crush on Berri.[19] Even when people ask about them possibly butting heads with each other over being Spectrum's main partners, they both would laugh about it and reassure them that they're on good terms with each other.

Serena The Hedgehog[]

Admittingly, Serena was nervous that Berri would be a road block to her winning Spectrum's heart as she would start to journey more and more often with Team Spectrum. This fear initially caused Serena to be cold towards Berri. At some point though, Berri would figure out that Serena had a crush on Spectrum, to which she would reassure Serena that she and Spectrum are just friends. After that confrontation, Serena would get more comfortable around Berri, and the both of them would eventually become good "gal pals."

Tumult[]

With both being major parts of Team Spectrum, Tumult and Berri do spend quite a lot of time interacting with each other. Berri and Tumult's fun-loving sides rub off on each other, and the two of them enjoy dishing out destruction and partying. When it comes to exploring how the cultures have advanced since Tumult first got trapped in his Chaos Emerald,[20] Berri almost acts as his guide, making to sure to give him a good time along the way. Tumult, on the other hand, appreciates Berri's friendliness and fun-loving attitude, but thanks to his background with the Beginning,[20] he's not exactly fond of some of Berri's life choices... Though, also thanks to his background with the Beginning,[20] Tumult's able to set that gripe aside, knowing that she'll still be accepted into the afterlife, given she makes other decisions beforehand.

Audrey The Hedgehog[]

Audrey has known Berri for as long as she's known Spectrum, considering how Berri was a childhood friend of Spectrum's;[9] it only felt natural for Berri and Audrey to be childhood friends too. In fact, Berri and Audrey were each other's first girl friends. As children, the two of them would often team up to pull pranks on Spectrum, or they would just simply hang out to talk about girly things; so alongside Spectrum, Berri was one of the few people that Audrey could actually talk to about any problems she happened to have. Audrey, however, did not tell Berri about her being robot for a while after she discovered this fact, which did bug Berri a little upon her finding out; Audrey didn't know how Berri would feel, fearing that her not being a real person would make their friendship meaningless. Of course, like a true friend, Berri was understanding and compassionate towards Audrey on this issue (thanks to them again being childhood friends), knowing that her being a robot couldn't change the memories they made together (much to Audrey's relief).

Millie The Ferret[]

During Team Spectrum's first (unintentional) visit to the Solara galaxy,[21][22] Berri was injured by the loss of air out in the vacuum of space, so she was taken to the Hypernova's medical bay when its crew rescued them shortly after, and that's where she met and was taken care of by a nurse named Millie. Both of them instantly had intense feelings for each other, but once Berri's health was back to normal, she was the one who made the first move,[4] though Millie's guard wasn't thrown off by this because of her own mutual yearning (along with already being quite the flirt herself). Throughout the remainder of Team Spectrum's time in Solara,[21][22] and throughout the remainder of their relationship, Berri and Millie would do everything together, from watching movies, to partying, to exploring the nature of other planets, and even getting some quality alone time.[4] Millie especially enjoyed the moments when they were alone though, as she feared that them being seen as romantically involved (as a doctor and her patient)[21][22] could jeopardize her job (even though some of their friends already knew about their little fling (without their knowledge) and just turned a blind eye, sometimes with a smirk, to let them be), though Berri rarely gave that a second thought at the time;[4] in fact, Berri would often tempt Millie into abandoning her shifts so that they could do things together, regardless of the ensuing consequences for Millie[4] (though she would often give into Berri's temptations anyway, in spite of her normally focused work ethic). In the end, however, the pressure of keeping their relationship a secret was too much for Millie, and Berri saw that as it all came to a head, so she decided to break things off between them to protect Millie's job,[4] which she was grateful for...

Millicent "Double Trouble" Prower[]

Millie has looked up to Berri ever since she and Ginger first arrived in her dimension,[17][23] and she still looks up to her whenever she and Ginger visit afterwards. Millie sees Berri as older and stronger, and therefore wiser, than she could ever be, thinking Berri has her whole life planned out for her (but of course, that's not entirely true); this view of Berri often stresses Millie out when comparing herself to her, as she is always worried that something could happen that could mess up her own future plans for her own life. So with all of that in mind, whenever she is having trouble (and whenever Berri is around), she will ask Berri for advice; which she is happy to provide. After all, Berri sees a little bit of herself in Millie and she therefore is quite fond of the kid, so she most certainly doesn't want her to make the same mistakes she's made or end up on the same paths that she's on.[4]

Charlotte The Mouse[]

Charlotte is very friendly with Berri (just as much as she is with Ginger),[24] being very intrigued with her universe[8] (as well as the other universes[1] she's visited);[21] so whenever Berri and Ginger visit their dimension,[23] Charlotte would often times ask Berri questions about other worlds and her own[1] that would range from more complex questions, such as discussing what things are a constant between worlds[1] or if she and Millicent exist in other worlds, to more simple questions, such as discussing what Berri and Ginger do in their spare time or what the romance novels in their world[8] are like (even though Berri herself is not really into romance novels). Whenever Millicent is training with Tails[2] to be a better mechanic,[25] Charlotte would often host and invite Berri (and Ginger) to her own tea[26] parties, where they would talk about several things such as the lovely locations of Charlotte's world;[23] when they don't take part in tea parties though, Charlotte would instead show-off her sword fighting skills for Berri (and Ginger).

Upon their first encounter,[17] Berri wanted to take Butterscotch down (just like the other members of the AET); this initial perspective would change, however, upon Berri learning that Butterscotch is a daughter of Vanilla's and the older sister to Cream in her universe.[23][27] During another encounter, after having looked into her family in that universe,[23][27] Berri would try to reason with Butterscotch rather than fight.[17] Butterscotch, on the other hand, was still eager on killing her, despite her being shocked at the revelation that Berri is technically her aunt from another universe;[8][27][28] as Butterscotch continued to fight, Berri would continue to try and reason with her, saying that her family still loves her and that NULL was using her.[17][29] Eventually, Butterscotch's emotions would be too much for her and she would wind up breaking down in Berri's arms (as Berri was trying to comfort her).[17] She would go on to tell Berri of her past,[30] to which Berri responded with care and sympathy.[17] Ever since then, Berri and Butterscotch have been on awkward terms, but they're still trying to make things work (and Berri is especially still trying to get her to leave the AET and to no longer be a killer).[31]

Spring-Heeled Jack (Evil/Anti Spectrum)[]

With Jack being Spectrum's counterpart from an alternate timeline, and a very "messed-up" extreme version at that, Berri is very unnerved by Jack's presence, at the very least. At the most, she's horrified. Jack shows a darker side to Spectrum, the darkest "what-if" scenario that Spectrum could take, which disappoints Berri. Jack's presence makes Berri doubt Spectrum; a feeling which she can quickly stomp out for the time being.

Lamia The Constrictor[]

Out of most people, Berri (along with Ginger) is the most annoyed with Lamia and her tricks, with a big reason being that she messes with her (and Ginger) the most out of anyone else that happens upon her. Not only is this due to Lamia's obsession,[32] but also due to Lamia knowing her (and Ginger's) reservedness in terms of her love life.[4][16] Berri (along with Ginger) wanting to just live her life and not make her preferences a big issue, along with her (and Ginger's) hatred towards Lamia's vendetta against the innocence of children,[32][33] infuriates Lamia. All of this has caused Lamia to put a personal target on her (and Ginger), trying her hardest to convince her (and Ginger) that she should be on her side (whether willingly or not); in fact, due to Lamia having obsessively encountered and hypnotized Berri (and Ginger) so many times, Berri (and Ginger) can now entrance herself just by thinking about Lamia normally, even if she isn't actually around.
