Early life[]
After the death of his granddaughter Maria, and during his own imprisonment,[6] Dr. Gerald Robotnik built Audrey as a way to cope with her death (though, it didn’t help much). Using the materials G.U.N. provided to him for his experiments on Prison Island,[6] he was able to make Audrey, who was a powerful synthetic android capable of growing and aging on her own,[7] as well as being able to experience emotions and have desires. Gerald would manage to keep Audrey a secret as she developed and as his own mental state slowly deteriorated, despite her presence; as she would grow bit by bit, Audrey would be there to comfort and learn from Gerald in spite of his regressing state. Eventually, when it was time for Dr. Gerald to be executed,[6] he returned Audrey's kindness and gave her the tools to escape the prison, as well as deactivated her and erased major parts of her memory so that she could start a new life. Upon her reactivation, only remembering her name and not what she is, Audrey managed to escape the island, journeying out into the world.
Being Adopted/Sonic Forces/Discovering her True Form[]
For a long time, she would wander from town to town, eventually being found by the family of a young Spectrum The Hedgehog, who would quickly adopt her while never suspecting she is a robot. As she would mature into a young woman along with Spectrum maturing into a young man, the two siblings would become very close with each other. When Eggman would begin his conquest of the planet,[8] however, Audrey was one of many who were kidnapped and held on the newly rebuilt Death Egg. Eggman would quickly discover that Audrey was a robot created by his grandfather, much to Audrey’s horror, and he would start upgrading her weapons systems[9] and unlocking her memories in the hopes of turning her into the ultimate Badnik. Thankfully though, Spectrum and the Resistance would manage to free her along with many others during their rescue mission to bring back Sonic,[10] but Audrey was still traumatized by the revelations she went through and would soon tell Spectrum about her being a robot. Spectrum would comfort Audrey, but would also elect not to tell anyone else about her condition, not wanting to cause panic and not wanting people to distance themselves from her; naturally, Audrey agreed.
