Was trying to spell 'short' https://sonicfanon.fandom.com/wiki/Special:ShortPages
Has alot of low quality content. So far I read 10 empty pages history and found out the author of the page removed the content. I will do a better search later. But if anyone wants to help improve/mark content. Feel free to.
Just Updated
This is a really big task, that, as I understand, doesn't have support from the entire wiki.
Sort characters into their assorted categories. There are over 2,000 fan characters inside the character category, which makes sense right? WRONG. It is overpopulation. When will we deal with this? Probably never. Heck, I couldn't do it entirely correct. So, I guess we can discuss solutions here.
I am on my phone too much. So I noticed some features I would like to have added to the sonic fanon.
Custom categories, these can be added by admins by clicking the options bar on the side of edit and selecting edit mobile mainpage. Please add them.
I would like to archive roleplays that have not been edited in at least a year by creating a category called Archived Roleplays
. But I would like the Sonic Fanon community to vote on it first because it will displace a huge amount of information in less than 1 hour.
My case, the Sonic Fanon Fandom has over 80 logged in users, and 1/10th of its contents are roleplays. The category has become crowded with under 1,000 inactive pages. I note that most active (admins, mods, users) stopped using the roleplays in 2019 to help focus on other projects.
Solution, where will all this information go? It would be easiest for me to move older pages to a new category inside of roleplays
category so they can still be viewed while taking up less space.
Cases against, the Sonic Fanon community is only a community of 80 users, I could understand if you are against it for this reason. Also, cases against myself for not knowing what contents are inside of Roleplays.
I am against against strongly, I would need a majority against and some good arguments to persuade me otherwise.
Thank you for reading, and please respond!
In light of the recent abolishment of pairing couples, as well as the contradictory roleplays category on the front page, I think it's high time we re-adjusted our little category section there.
Heroes | Anti-Heroes | Villains | Neutral | Pairings |
Locations | Items | Fanfiction | Roleplays | Fan Games |
Don't forget to take a look at our awesome tutorials!
This is what we're working with right now. Now, the plan is to replace Roleplays and Pairings with Anti-Villains and Teams. (Though other suggestions are welcome, these are the most likely candidates!) As usual, we need to find fitting pictures for these different categories. At the same time, I had brought up some time ago that some of our existing category images could use a replacement.

i kinda wanna get a new icon for fanfiction and fan games and maybe items that crusty old book kinda clashes and Tails tinkering on something would actually be better fit for items than fan games.
I would prefer fanart over official art for these images!

Hello everyone! It's 2019, and a few of us have been discussing some changes that are desperately needed around here. On the discord we came up with a draft for an update to the wiki's rules, policies, and standards.

Hey You! Yes You!
Are you a good drawer? You like Cosplays? Here's a fun contest.
This contest would let you dress up Sonic as any fictional/non-fictional character, and let him cosplay as the character!
Rules:
1. You cannot dress him as something that would offend someone (yes, you don't think I might know that?)
2. characters that are not acceptable in this wiki will not be allowed.
3. You can't let Sonic cosplay as a OC, but OCs that people all over the internet know about you can (Like Sonic.exe, Sonichu, etc)
4. Go wild, crazy, and have fun with it! Sure, some of the rules may affect you, but just think about the crazy ideas you can have with Sonic!
example:
I took the design of Chuck E Cheese from the 70s, and put it onto Sonic, just for referance.
This contest is just for fun, because I wanna see Sonic dress up as crazy things.
You can submit it onto my blog post on my account that'll say "Contest submitions"
I'll see you all once around 40 or 30 of you can join.
The only thing they ever do is cause drama in the comments.
Any information about a couple can be kept on their character pages anyway.
I'll write up a formal rule if you guys agree, but I just wanted to go ahead and throw this one out there.

It's Over 10,000!
We just passed 10,000 pages! Again!
...so I thought it would be good time to bring up a few topics with everyone to see what your opinions are on them.
There's a lot of potential for this wiki to become a much cleaner, neater experience for both existing users and possible new ones, and I want to be able to bring a lot of that to life with you all.
I believe that the reason so many past cleanup attempts have failed is due to a flawed approach. We always went at with a "Kill anything that moves!" type of method, which really just ended up destroying a lot of Mainspace pages. A lot of that-- ok most of that was my own idea, so I'm not blaming anyone.
Let's try something new.
I think we should break up the whole process into three steps:
- Organize
- Reduce
- Grow
I'll just talk about my ideas about the first one for now:
Organize
Over the years, the wiki has become an absolute cluster mess of pages with spider links and unnecessary categories.
What if we organized everything we have first, then decide what needs to be fixed or thrown out? That would make more sense, wouldn't it?
Now in no way is any one person doing things the "wrong" way, but that is because we don't really have a "right" way to organize a lot of things. That's what I'm hoping we can fix first.
Here's a raw bullet list of everything I can think of that we can work on (I'll add some links to individual articles about them as time goes on):
- Namespace Usage - We should be using the special namespaces our wiki has in order to properly manage our pages.
- Unnecessary Categories - There are a lot of similar or outright duplicate categories, as well as ones that are simply unnecessary altogether.
- User Categories - There are a lot of categories for individual users' pages. I feel like there's a better way to do this, but I'm still looking into it.
- Unused Images - I'll probably handle this with a bot, but if you have free time it can't hurt to mark a few to make it easier.
Hey guys, I'm working on a new project to tidy up a bit. Looking for redundant or misspelled categories to edit. Being as it's a mess to do by hand, I made SFWBOT a function for it.
For example, I just merged:
Together into:
Since they're all about crossovers they should just be one category, and have a category for the other part like so:
This is cleaner and easier to search for! If you know of any categories that need to be renamed or merged together, let me know here please!
Also if you don't feel like posting here, you can also use the template. To suggest a category merge, you can add this to the top of the category page:
{{CategoryMerge|Category:CATEGORYTOMERGEINTO}}
If you have ideas about category changes, you can link them in a comment. Make sure you format category links with a leading colon ":" so you don't accidentally categorize your post! Thanks Wikia
[[:Category:SomeCategory]]
Take a look at the list of categories on our wiki and you'll see what I mean.
I'm thinking of a couple different options to help clean up a bit, but I want to get some user input on it.
I would personally like to limit user categories to one per person in order to prevent spamming the category namespace. It makes things a lot neater.
My favorite idea would be to do something like these:
Notice the special characters. That would sort the user categories to the very beginning of the list, keeping them out of the rest of the results! Could really use any type of special character, but I personally like the At Symbol or Dollar Sign.
It's easy to rename categories now, so nobody would have to do anything, I can just rename them for you. I just think it would make things a lot neater and help with reducing a lot of the clutter.
What do you guys think?
If so then your in luck! Try out this game on scratch and prepare to yell about it to your friends
Good afternoon everyone,
As many of you may or may not know, we have had a media player template for a while that allowed users to autoplay music on their pages for the intent of customization and in order to invoke mood and suspense while reading characters, fanfiction, or roleplays.
Because of a recent discussion, we've made several updates on the MPC template in order to benefit user experience and friendliness, and so to not have users needlessly get the shit scared out of them.
Here are the improvements that we've made on said templates.
- They will no longer autoplay.
- Height can no longer be customized.
- Template now floats in lower left corner of screen.
- Being as their height is fixed, you can now play, pause, and seek through your media.
If you have an issues to report regarding the new MPC template design such as display errors or potential standards violations (covering page contents, being used to shown illicit content), please report them to Akrivus or another admin so they may be fixed.
Now, moving onward, it must be necessary to now establish guidelines regarding future usage of media templates not only limited to the MPC template itself. Our policies are flexible enough to accommodate such guidelines without complete adoption and as such I will be posting them for reference to be used by any admin, moderator, or user who sees any potential misuse being carried out.
Media templates will not be tolerated for the following uses:
- Using autoplay features. This will no longer be tolerated.
- Purposefully hiding UI elements of the YouTube player.
- Playing any form of media that violates our policies.
- Playing loud or annoying media such as ear rape or meme videos.
- Playing media designed to trigger a mental or physical ailment such as epilepsy.
- Playing inexcusably long videos, such as 10 hour loops, ASMR, or compilations.
If any page violates these rules, you are clear to remove the violating code and/or report said pages and users should it be necessary or needed.
Furthermore, any questions, comments, or clarifications must be directed to the comments section below.
Thank you for your time,
Emerl (a.k.a. Akrivus)
This needs to stop. It feels like MySpace up in here with all these pages playing loud music out of nowhere.
Visiting a page that is not intended for this type of media, then getting sound blasting out of your speakers is unacceptable. This needs to go.
Alright guys how can we resolve this issue with unnecessary crossovers? There are too many pages on this wiki that just outright shouldn't be here.
Some Examples
Random Fate Series stuff?
Pokemon stuff with zero mention to sonic whatsoever
We need a policy to limit how much crossover should even be allowed (if any) so these types of articles can properly be handled and removed.
I've had a lot more time lately than I did when I left, what with the steady job and all. I feel like I'd like to return and resume helping this wiki try to improve.
Being as I removed my own powers, I'd like to try to simply get approval from everyone to have them back.
I feel like I could do some good here, and I feel like I may actually participate in some of the content eventually if we can make some progress as a community.
So with that I ask:
Will you guys give me my job back?

There are currently only 3 active administrators in this wiki (Smash, Minato and Chames) and Chames seems to be the only one around. I believe we need more.
