I've done this already on the main SNN, but I'll do it here just for fun. It's still being updated and prettied up, but is finished for the most part.

History

Nicolas is the second child of Michael and Agee and the younger brother of Samantha, who is 4 years older than him. As he got older, he enjoyed fishing with his father and cooking with his mother. He also had a close bond with his sister.

When he was 8, his mother, an archeologist, discovered 3 of the legendary Onyx Stones on Onyx Island, and when his father, a scientist and inventor, studied them along with his partner and good friend Krait, who was also an uncle figure to Nicolas, they discovered their immense power. However, due to an accident, Krait became corrupted by them, and Michael feared for his family and created the Onyx Gauntlets, but unfortunately, when Krait decided he didn't need them anymore, he killed both him and Agee with his own Gauntlet in front of Nicolas. Deeply upset and angry, Nicolas took the gauntlets and fought Krait. Finding it amusing, Krait battled him in a mostly one-sided fight. Nicolas found one of Krait's grenades and threw it in his face, but not before getting a scar that ran across his own face. As he escaped, he ran home, where he believed Samantha was, only to see it in flames. He frantically searched the house, but the only thing he was able to save was the family photo album. Believing his sister was killed, he escaped in the family jet and went on the run for 7 years, becomingbemotionally distant.

Shortly after the events of Sonic Generations, Sonic and his friends found him losing a fight against General Frill and dozens of Krait's robots, so they helped him. Although he initially didn't trust them, he eventually warmed up to them, especially Cream and Amy, who became like sisters to him.

They soon found out that Krait freed Eggman from White Space and recruited him into his empire. When they went to stop him, they came across one of Krait's enforcers, Oscure, and battled them, barely escaping. They were all later captured by Krait's forces, but were freed by Eggman, who revealed that he had actually been kidnapped and his army taken from him. Thanking him, they then became temporary allies to fight Krait. Before escaping, however, Nicolas again fought Oscure, who then revealed themselves to be Samantha. Krait had told her that Nicolas killed their parents, and in her grief, believed him for a while, but later realized what really happened, but still blamed Nicolas for not doing more to protect them. Nicolas, in his shock, was badly beaten by her, but was rescued by his friends. After this, Nicolas became a bit colder.

Later, through Eggman's intelligence, the heroes discovered that Krait had partially restored the Harbinger, an ancient superweapon capable of wiping out all life on Mobius, and together they formed a plan to destroy it by using a computer virus. When they infiltrated the base, Nicolas encountered Sam again and beat her this time, but spared her, as he wasn't the monster she became. She was touched by this and attempted to seek redemption by helping them. Nico and his friends were then seemingly trapped by Krait, and he used the Mind Peeler on Nico, but, as he had installed a bio-computer virus into himself, infected Krait, affecting his entire army. They then fought him and his officers, with him and Samantha personally fighting Krait to stop him from activating the weapon at the last minute. They succeeded in destroying Krait, his army, and the Harbinger superweapon, but Sam went missing, with her leaving him a message that she had gone to help those she had hurt as Krait's enforcer, and she promised to return one day to pick up where they left off.

Soon after, at Cream's insistence, Vanilla adopted Nicolas into their family, which was like his own in many ways. He then participated in many adventures with Sonic and his friends, such as fighting Eggman when he took over the world, fighting Neo Metal Sonic, dealing with the Metal Virus, and fighting the Deadly 6. He made many more friends, the closest being Whisper and Tangle, the latter whom he developed a crush on.

During the events of Sonic Frontiers, he discovered that Krait might still be alive, so he went off to confront him, with Cream and Cheese sneaking along, much to his irritation. He reluctantly teamed up with Tangle and Whisper, whom Cream had contacted, and shortly after teamed up with Mimic, Krait's latest enforcer, after convincing him to help them. They discovered that "Krait" was actually his former scientist Dr. Nag pretending to be him. During this adventure, Cream and Whisper helped him to admit his feelings to Tangle, who was also too shy to admit her feelings. After defeating Nag, everyone (except for Mimic, who sacrificed himself in redemption) went back home, and Nicolas and Tangle began a relationship.

Personality

At first, Nicolas was quiet and emotionally distant, not willing to make friends as he didn't want to deal with losing them and usually preferring to be alone. After bonding with Sonic and his friends, though, he showed his true personality as a very sweet, kind, compassionate, and funny person. Despite this, he prefers not to involve his friends in his own dangerous adventures and doesn't like sharing his personal thoughts and feelings with others. He's emotionally vulnerable and has low self-esteem, being more sensitive than he seems and getting angry many times, but works hard to overcome his anger. He doesn't always pay attention and has a tendency to let his mind wander, often casually replying, "What?" whenever someone says something to him. He's also very protective of those he's close to, especially his adopted family, even being a little overprotective at times. Although he can seem confident, he can be ditzy at times and can become shy and bashful around girls around his age, especially Tangle. He is witty and sarcastic, and also has a sense of humor that some people may consider odd. Despite his accomplishments, Nico tends to be modest. He also looks out for those younger than him, such as Cream, Amy, Tails, Belle, and Charmy. He enjoys music, but dislikes singing and dancing, although he'll do it for Cream after she begs him to. He also has a sensitive, tender side to him that others don't often see, such as his caring attitude toward Cream and occasionally having deep conversations with others.

Appearance

Nico is a gray mongoose with a white muzzle and white fur on his stomach, and he has brown eyes and a thick black stripe that goes from his forehead to the back of his head. On his back, he has 7 thin, black horizontal stripes. He has a scar from the lower right side of his face to the upper left of his face, over his left eye. He also has a small gap in his front teeth.

He wears rectangular black glasses and a black cardigan jacket that reaches his knees. He wears brown-gray boots. He also wears Onyx Gauntlets around his arms that fit like fingerless, mid-forearm length gloves.

Abilities

Onyx Gauntlets - his main weapons, they were invented by his father Michael and can each generate energy blades and shapeshift into blasters. The blades can rotate and spin very quickly. They're powered by the Onyx Stones. His blades are light red in color.

Cyber Spectacles - invented by Michael, it's controlled by small buttons on the rims and has many functions (most of them virtual on the lenses/screens), such as binoculars, microscope, targeting, and tracking. It can also transform into aqua and gas masks when needed.

Jump Boots - invented by Michael, they resemble normal boots, but contain small but powerful repulsors that can enable the user to jump high and far, also controlled by well-placed buttons.

The Jager - a large, roomy jet, white in color, with enough room for at least 6 people. Originally meant as the family vehicle, it's been upgraded with weapons and a targeting system, as well as improved engines and strengthened hull. It has a fusion of old-fashioned, modern, and futuristic flight controls.

Piloting - he has the ability to skillfully fly his jet, along with many other vehicles that he comes across.

Combat - he is very skilled at fighting, such as swordfighting and hand-to-hand combat and is one of the best fighters.

Marksmanship - thanks to his glasses, he has excellent targeting skills.

Durability - he can take a surprising amount of punishment and pain, but only as much as realistically possible, and he does have a limit for how much he can handle.

Intelligence - while not a super-genius, he does have some understanding on building and repairing machines.

Survival skills - he developed these over the 7 years he was on the run.

Leadership - he has a good sense of leadership, which allowed him to command many soldiers during the war against Eggman and to lead smaller teams.

Onyx Nicolas - by harnessing the power of the Onyx Stones, even just one, he obtains a super form, but it's very difficult to control and doesn't use it often as it has the potential to quickly corrupt his mind.

Weaknesses

Emotional Vulnerability - he developed PTSD after Krait killed his parents and can lose control of his emotions at times, becoming viciously angry or overwhelmingly sad.

Onyx Stone Corruption - like most others, he has great difficulty controlling the Onyx Stones, and while he can handle it better than others, he's still susceptible to their corruptive power.

Bad Eyesight - without his glasses, he can hardly see anything, even things close to his face.

Heights - he has a small fear of heights and can become uneasy around them, but usually can suck it up and ignore it.

Family

Michael the Mongoose

Nico was very close to his father and enjoyed spending time with. It was Michael who taught Nico how to operate and repair machines. Nico fondly remembers the times he took him fishing. When Michael was killed, Nico was devastated, and hung on to this for many years. He still keeps a family album containing pictures of his family, including Michael.

Agee the Mongoose

Nico loved his mother more than anything. He recalls she used to sing to him and tell him stories. He got his odd sense of humor from her. She also taught him how to cook. Her death deeply saddened him, and he wasn't the same for many years. He still keeps pictures of her in his family album.

Samantha the Mongoose

Although she's 4 years older than Nico, they were close and were always there for each other. However, their relationship turned sour when their parents died and she was told by Krait that Nico had killed them. She believed him at first, but sometime later, realized the truth, but because her training had hardened her and she had been angry for so long, she didn't care much for Nico anymore, and a part of her still blamed him for not doing more to save their parents. She also viewed him as a link to the past she wanted to forget. She planned on using him to distract Krait, and then to get rid of both of them.

Nico, unaware of her survival, was upset about her apparent death and grieved her for many years. He was shocked to discover that, not only was she alive, but that she hated him. He was deeply hurt by her mockery and her refusal to help him. After this encounter, he grew colder and disowned her, being willing to do whatever it took to stop her. After talking with Cream, Amy, and Vanilla, though, he decided to let go of his anger. When they met again, he beat her, but refused to strike her down, saying that she was still his big sister and that he wasn't a monster. Moved to tears by this, they reconciled and teamed up to stop Krait, but disappeared shortly after. She left him a message saying she was going to help those whom she hurt as Krait's enforcer and said that they would eventually meet again as siblings.

Vanilla the Rabbit

Nico's adoptive mother. He met her shortly after he met Sonic and his friends, and in many ways reminded him of his own mother. After defeating Krait, she gladly adopted him, seeing him as the son she never had. Although sometimes she can embarrass him like most mothers do, they do care about each other, and she gives him good advice to use in life. She worries about the adventures he goes on, but knows he can take care of himself. When her well-being is threatened, Nico becomes fiercely angry and protective. When she got the Metal Virus, he became depressed and moody, but was overjoyed when she was cured and even cried in happiness.

Cream the Rabbit

Nico's adoptive little sister. He instantly took a liking to her and they quickly became close. Her words and kindness often stopped him from reacting on anger and at times brought him to tears. After she realized he had no family, she insisted that he be adopted, which touched him. Although he can be overprotective and her naive and bratty behavior can irritate him, he loves her as a sister, and becomes violent when others threaten or hurt her. She sees his more sensitive side more than others, such as cleaning her face and fussing over her. He also will act silly at times to get her to laugh. Despite his dislike of singing and dancing, he will sometimes do them for her because she enjoys it. When Nico went to investigate if Krait was still alive, he ordered her to stay, but because she was worried about him, she disobeyed him, sneaking aboard his ship and contacting Tangle and Whisper to help him. She later teamed up with Whisper to help Nico to admit his feelings for Tangle and was very happy when they began dating.

Gemerl

Although they're not particularly close, Nico still cares about him. They share their concern over Cream and Vanilla and often team up to protect them. Nico will joke around with him, but can get a little exasperated when he doesn't understand.

Friends

Sonic the Hedgehog

They first met when Sonic and his friends rescued him, although at first Nico didn't trust them, thinking they had an ulterior motive, but Sonic's selflessness and bravery convinced him later on. He shares his witty and sarcastic sense of humor and usually gets along with him. However, sometimes Sonic's recklessness and arrogance can anger him, believing he puts other people in danger. Despite this, he knows he can always trust him to have his back, as friends and allies. However, when many people got infected with the Metal Virus, including Vanilla and Tangle, and knowing Sonic's role in it, he avoided speaking to him, knowing that he would lash out at him. However, when Sonic tried to help him after he got seriously injured, he saw Sonic's distress and forgave him. He comforted him and told him that despite everything, he ultimately agreed with his actions of sparing the villains and likely would have made the same decisions. He also said that he was one of the people who gave him back his heart and hope, further solidifying their friendship before succumbing to his injuries and transforming into a Zombot. After he was cured, he was worried when he went missing, but was happy when he discovered him alive.

Miles "Tails" Prower

Along with Sonic and Amy, Tails helped to rescue Nico from dozens of Krait's robots. Nico didn't trust him at first, as he did with everyone else, but he eventually viewed him as trustworthy. He was impressed with his intelligence despite his young age and jokes that he's embarrassed that an 8-year old is smarter than him. They have a brother-like relationship, with Nico looking out for him and joking around with him, as well as trusting that Tails is smart enough to get them out of anything. He shows concern for him at times and tries to keep his spirits up, even when he himself isn't feeling his best.

Amy Rose

Like with Sonic and Tails, Nico didn't trust Amy, but came to view her as friend, although he remained a bit uneasy with her as she reminded him of his own sister. He eventually got over this and formed a sibling-like relationship with her, and she has done much to help him come to terms with his past. She was the first one to discover his feelings for Tangle and promised not to tell anyone until he was ready. Sometimes they'll lightly tease each other as siblings do, especially about each other's respective crushes, hers on Sonic and his own on Tangle, but get along for the most part. When she felt overwhelmed during the Metal Virus incident, he offered to help her out and comforted her like a big brother would. She worried about him when she found out he left to hunt down Krait, but was happy when he returned safely and started to date Tangle.

Knuckles the Echidna

When they first met, Nico didn't trust Knuckles, which escalated due to their clashing personalities, but came to consider each other friends. He later trusted in his leadership during the War to Take Back the Planet. When Knuckles says or does something stupid, Nico will sometimes smack him on the back of his head, which irritates Knuckles.

Big

Nico met Big after being introduced to him by Sonic, and although they don't talk a lot, they do enjoy each other's company and even go fishing together, which reminds Nico of fishing with his own father. When one of their favorite fishing spots on an island was destroyed, Nico comforted the distraught Big and promised to find another fishing spot.

Belle the Tinkerer

Although they don't interact much, Nico has shown to be a good friend of hers and doesn't hold the fact that she's a Badnik against her. He tries to look out for her best interests and defends her from those who question or threaten her. He also helped her to cope with losing her "father," Mr. Tinker, as he too had lost his own father.

Whisper the Wolf

Nico first met Whisper after fighting Neo Metal Sonic when Tangle introduced them. They bonded over their similar backgrounds of betrayal and loneliness, and they became close friends, being the only one besides Tangle she felt she could confide in. They would later comfort each other after Tangle and Vanilla succumbed to the Metal Virus. Later, when hunting for what he believed was Krait, Cream contacted both her and Tangle to help, which she accepted. Despite telling them to go home, they insisted that they help, as they were friends, and Nico reluctantly allowed them to come. She was happy when Mimic was finally caught, and although she disliked that they had to bring him along, she trusted Nico's judgment. After finding out Mimic's past, Nico helped her to forgive him when he expressed his deep regret for what he did. When Tangle was kidnapped, they both shared mutual concern over her, but when she noticed his excessive stress, she realized that he had feelings for her. She later tried to push him to tell her, but was reluctant to do so until she told him that she also once had feelings for one of her former teammates, Slinger the Ocelot, but she never got the chance to tell him before he died, to which Nico empathized with. She then said that she wanted Nico to tell Tangle while he still had the chance, as their adventure was dangerous. This helped Nico to admit his feelings to Tangle, and she was happy when they started dating. Later, when she reunited with the Diamond Cutters when they were pulled into the Omniscape, he helped her to through it and helped her to say goodbye to them, even helping her reveal her feelings to Slinger.

Mimic the Octopus

Nico first heard of Mimic through Tangle and Whisper's stories and promised to personally punch him in the face if they ever met. When they finally did meet, it was as enemies, as Mimic was one of Krait's latest enforcers. After beating him, Nico realized that he could be useful, and convinced him to help them by making him realize that Krait would kill him for his failure and hunt him down no matter what he did for him and promised to let him go if they succeeded. Their alliance was very uneasy and Mimic frequently argued with the others and made it difficult to work with him. However, he gradually changed after spending time with them. When Nico met Mimic's former comrades and found out that Mimic was betrayed by them in a similar way he betrayed Whisper, he empathized with him and was the first one to forgive him, even helping Whisper and Tangle to forgive him. They came to consider each other good friends, and Nico was distraught when Mimic sacrificed himself to help stop Dr. Nag.

Luke the Tasmanian Tiger

Nico's friendship with Luke started off rocky and complicated because of their tendency to run into each other and be on opposite sides. They first met when he was hunting him and his friends to collect on their bounty. Their rivalry further escalated because of Luke's apparent greediness, but after spending some time together, Nico realized that he wasn't as selfish as he seemed and that he had a sense of honor and compassion. After they escaped, Nico believed that he let them escape to avoid being tortured by Krait, although Luke denies this. However, they later fought each other again when they were both pursuing Dr. Nag, but became reluctant allies in order to rescue Tangle. Despite their uneasiness, they eventually bonded over their love of music and respect for each other's abilities, developing a friendly rivalry. After they rescued Tangle, Nico was grateful for what he did, although he did get irritated when Tangle said he was cute. After this he left them, but promised to help them when they needed it. He kept his promise by later helping him to fight Nag in Spagonia, and later allied with him again to fight Kalan.

Romance

Tangle the Lemur

Nico first met Tangle when preparing to fight Neo Metal Sonic, and they developed a good friendship, but they worked together more, he became attracted to her, but was too shy to admit to anyone. Because of this, he would sometimes act nervous and awkward around her. He would also blush whenever she hugged him, even if it was a group hug. He was always a bit protective of her, but tried not to make it obvious. He was disappointed when she left to find her friend, Whisper, but was happy when she came back. Despite his awkwardness around her, they were good friends and often worked well together during crises, and she felt comfortable enough to hang out with him and at times to confide in him. They are aware of each other's faults, however, and can irritate each other at times. When he left to investigate Krait's apparent return, Cream contacted both her and Whisper to help. Nico didn't want them there at first, worrying about their safety, but agreed in the end to let them help. While traveling with him, he continued to behave nervously around her, which she didn't really notice at first, but would then start to think that he was uncomfortable with her for some reason. When she got kidnapped, he became very stressed and even asked Luke, one of his rivals, to help them to find her, and he was very happy when she got rescued, although he did get irritated when she said that she thought that Luke was cute. Later, she, Nico, and Whisper became trapped in a small space, and she panicked due to her claustrophobia, until Nico comforted her and helped her to stay calm until they got out. It was seemingly because of this that she developed a crush on him as well, but didn't want to tell anyone because of her own shyness. She would occasionally drop subtle hints of it, though, like saying that she thinks he's sweet and that his relationship with Cream is adorable. She seemed surprised when Nico revealed his own feelings for her and was overjoyed to hear it. Just before infiltrating Nag's base, she gave him a kiss on the cheek to help motivate him and showed concern for each other while infiltrating Nag's base. After their adventure, Nico nervously asked her out, to which she accepted, and they started dating. They share a healthy relationship, both showing each other trust and respect. When Nico needed to go to the Death Egg II to investigate strange occurrences, she eagerly went along, partly for the adventure but also to spend time with him. They worried for each other when they became separated and attacked by the hybrids and reprogrammed Badniks and were glad when they reunited.

Enemies

Lord Krait

Nico at first considered Krait as an uncle figure until he killed his parents. He then hated Krait and wanted to make him pay for ruining his life. He spent many years running from his forces and making strikes at his facilities, but never came close to defeating him until he teamed up with Sonic and his friends. Krait enjoyed torturing him and his friends and did his best to make his life miserable. Krait never believed that Nico would ever be a threat to him. Nico considered him among the most dangerous and horrible beings to exist, but couldn't deny his fear of him. Despite his initial desire for revenge, he eventually let go of his anger and instead wanted to stop him for a more noble purpose, which was to protect others. Nico and his friends later managed to trick Krait into installing a computer virus into himself, and Krait was infuriated by this and realized his mistake in not getting rid of Nico when he had the chance. After his demise, Nico found evidence that he might be alive and feared his return, and so set out to confront him, and ended up stopping Nag, finally ending Krait's legacy.

General Frill

General Frill greatly disliked Nico and viewed him as his greatest rival, but Nico didn't think much of him and always mocked him due to his constant victories over him. However, Nico still knew the danger he posed, and was surprised to discover that he survived after Krait's demise, now working for the disguised Nag. Despite his hatred for Nico, Frill seemed to be afraid of his temper, as once, when Frill hit Cream, he became afraid when Nico got incredibly angry and called in a retreat. After Nag's defeat, Frill's mind was damaged and was driven to insanity and finally imprisoned, and Nico was glad that he was no longer a threat. However, when he later visited him to get information, he was disturbed by his condition and truly felt bad for him, partly blaming himself for what happened to him.

Dr. Nag

Nico knew Dr. Nag, but never considered him a real threat until he discovered that he was still alive and took control of Krait's army. Nico also became desperate to stop Nag from transforming himself into sentient Onyx Energy, which would make him virtually unstoppable, so he used the Onyx Stones to become Onyx Nicolas, a dangerous form, to stop him. After Nag was defeated, Nico felt that the world was finally free from Krait's legacy.

Dr. Eggman

Nico had heard of Eggman when he was younger, but never thought of him until Krait kidnapped him. When they did meet, he considered Eggman to be a joke and not much of a threat. He was proven wrong when confronted by his intelligence and deviousness, and when he later took over the world, he was one of the ones on the front line, fighting him. Despite this, he was willing to give him a chance when he lost his memories and became Mr. Tinker and was disappointed when he returned to evil. He believes that, after Krait, Eggman is currently the greatest threat, although he hopes that he'll eventually turn away from evil.
