I would consider lack of consistency between pages to be a flaw.

Even if these changes were put in place, it isn't like someone's going to go deleting short stories because of this. If anything, someone would just move the content to a subpage for you.

There is a fairly heavy support for making things consistent when it comes to roleplays and fanfiction, since right now there is almost zero consistency with how those types of pages are handled.

I hardly see how it's ridiculous to say you should have an article that outlines your story, and then host it on a separate page. No other fandom does it the way we do. Go to any other fan wiki and you'll see articles about specific episodes of a TV show, movie, book, or other, and they will have a description about what happens in it. What they won't have, however, is the entire content of the episode.

Many fandoms have links to where you can find said content, though. My personal belief is that this content shouldn't even be on the wiki in the first place, but since it makes up most of the activity here, a good compromise is a simple "Click here to read the story" option, where the actual story is on a page one layer deep.

2019 Policy and Standards Update (Voting)

Hello everyone! It's time to vote on the new policy update.

Please take a moment to read the draft and post a vote using the templates in the instructions below.

Global Rules

All articles must maintain proper use of English and grammar, regardless of what language the user speaks.
All articles must meet standards at the time of posting. Do not post articles that do not meet standards, even if you intend to add to them later.
No pornographic, erotic, or fetish content is allowed, even if it’s censored or cropped.
Art theft is strictly prohibited. This includes:
- Recolored artwork
- Traced artwork
- Otherwise modified artwork
- Outright stolen characters
Don’t argue with staff. Disagreement is one thing, however, staff decisions are final.
Permanent bans will result in deletion of any pages that you own.
Staff may swiftly delete articles they deem to be offensive or in bad taste.

Article Standards

All articles on the wiki must follow the below guidelines. Whether or not a specific article meets the requirements will be determined by the community and ultimately the staff. Any ambiguation regarding these rules will be decided by staff, and the standards may be updated to reflect the result.

All Articles

All articles must have a minimum of 2 paragraphs of information. On a bare minimum page, each paragraph must contain at least two sentences of meaningful information.

Characters

Character articles must have the following information:

Appearance - Either a section describing the character or an image
Personality - Tell us about the character

This is totally fine, the standards are talking about the overall article. There's nothing wrong with what you're suggesting.

We were just trying to prevent people making entire articles in Spanish, Portuguese, etc.

Honestly, it's already over and the entries are well... Not really SFW mascot worthy. Maybe mascots for your stories, but they're too specific to include everyone.

I think I'm just going to cancel this.

I don't care what you use the character for afterward.

My point was that these are ridiculously complex for a character who's going to sit in the wiki background and look pretty. It was supposed to be a new character meant just for the purpose of being the mascot, not a continuation of your personal story or universe.

SFW Mascot Contest - (Cancelled)

Hey SFW people, I'm here to announce a new contest!

Let's create a mascot for SFW! It would be awesome to have something to theme the wiki over, and this would create some awesome activity on here.

Don't worry if you're not an artist, this contest will be about the description. Artwork will be created as a prize for the winning character. The character will be incorporated into the wiki's theme, including in common templates and messages.

The winning character will become the wiki's mascot for the season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall), then we will run the contest again.

I will be picking the judges in secret, to be announced after they have voted on the result.

Rules

Do NOT create any images of the character
Characters can have basic powers, but they must be something that can easily be represented in a still image
All characters must be newly created. Do not submit characters that existed prior to this contest.
All characters must have a highly detailed description of their appearance and personality. Be sure to include details about:
- Body Type/Physique
- Color
- Species
- Sex
- Detailed description of hairstyle
- Detailed description of outfit
- Typical Temperament
All characters must be a species that exists:
- No "mixed species" like hedgefox
- No species that only exist in specific fandoms

How to Enter

Design a character that you think would fit the theme and make a good mascot for our wiki
Create a page for them, making sure it meets all of the wiki standards and the rules above
Add the page to the category Category:SFW_Mascot_Contest

The contest was cancelled.
